One of the MuslimFest artist Javid Jah was just shortlisted by City of Mississauga for a Public Art installation in the new park that is being constructed in downtown Mississauga.

The permanent public art work is called *Rayyan: A Cosmic Bloom* - its an iconic gateway sculpture for a new park that combines traditional teachings from multiple BIPOC communities - namely *Islamic architecture* and West African Akaan symbolism.

It will be really cool to have a Islamic art structure in the City home to #MuslimFest

Thank you @javid.jah and @keepgrowingq for the beautiful design 🙏

Javid Jah is an interdisciplinary artist based in Toronto. Developing a studio with projects migrating between public art murals and contemporary architecture, Javid’s practice explores how marginal identities (graffiti, Islam) impact spatial design. Much of his work is influenced by Op Art representations of cosmology, using anamorphism to re-imagine traditional, sacred geometries

⠀
Artists in Toronto pay tribute to the Black Lives Matter Movement. On Saturday, June 6th, 2020, Artists joined together in a show of solidarity for anti-racism. Murals were painted throughout Grafitti Alley located off of Queen St, between Bathurst St. and Spadina St., Downtown Toronto.
⠀
It was exciting to see the artists paint with passion. I had an opportunity to watch the beginning, middle, and made sure to return to the location on Sunday, June 7th, 2020, to capture the final looks.
