There are a number of photos of Javier Arrey and me floating around from Oregon Bach Festival, but I rather like this one from backstage before our performance. He is a tremendous baritone, who is singing everywhere. He's a joy to sing with, and was a lovely colleague to spend the week with at many a restaurant and wandering around Eugene. I look forward to hopefully singing with him many more times. It was such a great reunion after we initially sang together at the Kennedy Center.

One more "dress" rehearsal this morning, then tonight is the West Coast Premiere of American Indian Symphony by Jerod Impichchaachaaha Tate with Oregon Bach Festival. Javier Arrey and I are so excited to sing this with the phenomenal Maestro Ken-David Masur on the podium. I sometimes can't believe this is really my life, and I am so grateful. 🥰

Oregon Bach Festival is off to a great start! Oh, my friends, this is going to be GOOD! The choir here is phenomenal. Javier Arrey is amazing. Working with Ken-David Masur is just incredible! My artist liaison Zichao is just the kindest, most considerate person. And of course, having Jerod Impichchaachaaha Tate in the room is always awesome. First orchestra rehearsal was tonight!

Oregon Bach Festival presents Composer-in-Residence, Jerod Impichchaachaaha Tate: AMERICAN SYMPHONIES
Thu, Jul 2, 2026 at 7:30 pm
Silva Concert Hall

Journey across America with two powerful musical visions. Dvořák’s beloved ‘New World’ Symphony captures the excitement and yearning of a land of promise. Inspired by American landscapes and folk tunes, it blends soaring melodies and lush orchestration - painting a majestic musical portrait of discovery and enduring spirit. The profound and nostalgic work is paired with American Indian composer Jerod Impichcha̱achaaha' Tate’s American Indian Symphony - a vivid, contemporary work shaped by indigenous stories and musical traditions in six different languages. Conducted by OBF artistic partner, Ken-David Masur.
