The future of World Heritage is shaped by those who choose to protect it today. 🌍

On Monday, participants of the #WorldHeritage Young Professionals Forum presented their Declaration to the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee, sharing a collective vision for the future of our shared heritage.

Over the past days in the Republic of Korea, these emerging heritage professionals exchanged knowledge, engaged with local communities, explored World Heritage sites, and learned from experts and one another. More than a forum, it has been an opportunity to build lasting connections, challenge perspectives, and strengthen the skills needed to safeguard World Heritage in an ever-changing world.

Because preserving heritage is not only about protecting extraordinary places. It is about empowering the next generation to lead with knowledge, collaboration, and a shared sense of responsibility.

Archaeologists aren’t just “diggers ⛏️

We’re researchers, field experts, scientists, project managers, heritage guardians, and storytellers all in one. 🌍

From excavating ancient sites to shaping heritage policy, every day is a mix of discovery, preservation, and connection.

Being multifaceted isn’t a choice.

Archaeology isn’t just about digging—it’s about uncovering the stories people left behind.

From everyday objects to entire landscapes, archaeologists piece together how people lived, worked, and believed—often revealing histories that were never written.

Places like Port Royal remind us that beneath the surface lies a deeper story of life before events like the 1692 Port Royal earthquake.

Every artifact has a story. Every site has a voice.

Grateful to have this iteration of my piece Wood and Water : Return to the Land…included in this exhibition @nationalgalleryofjamaica

This piece is a portrait of my mother and aunt as celestial bodies, representing a matriarchal family tree.

The exhibition Kingston Biennial 2024: Green X Gold revolves around land, environment and ecology, taking inspiration from themes of the Jamaican flag. It also plays on the constructed depiction of Jamaica and the Caribbean as “paradise”, which is seen largely in tourism marketing, and contrasts it with ecological realities that are less publicised.

Thank you to @michelebluyoga for assisting with this installation as #1 right hand all the way from Baltimore. A wonderful bonding creative experience for us.

Thank you to the installation team and gallery staff! ✨✨Curated by the distinguished Ashley James, Ph.D Associate Curator, Guggenheim New York and O’Neil Lawrence - Chief Curator, National Gallery of Jamaica

More soon.

Our show has come to an end. Reimagining Cultural Memories was a two week show from November 15 - 30 in Kingston, Jamaica at Toyota Jamaica.

Thank you all for the incredible support throughout this journey. Your presence, encouragement, and love for the art have been overwhelming.

This show was more than an exhibition — it was a celebration of culture and community, and it couldn’t have been possible without the visitors, sponsors, family and friends.

To everyone who came, shared, and believed in this vision, I am deeply grateful. Together, we made this a success, and I can’t wait to share even more with you in the future. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
