What an incredible week celebrating the artists, artwork, and stories of “Irrititja Kuwarri Tjungu”!

We are still buzzing from the energy of the past few days. From a full house at Monday’s opening reception to the artist panel on Wednesday, it has been an honor to facilitate this exchange of culture and art.

It has been a privilege to welcome Papunya Tula Artists Sally Rowe Nakamarra, Marlene Nampitjinpa, Mantua Nangala, and Yukultji Napangati, along with PTA Administrators Gretel Bull and Jaxon Waterhouse, to the Grey.

We were also honored to have Lenape artists Tori Thrash @thrashcreated and Joseph Fambrini @tahkoxi, hosted by @centercirclnyu, join us at the opening to offer greetings and participate in this week’s events.

Many thanks to all of our collaborators who made this week possible: @papunyatulaartists, @klugeruhe, @henry_f_skerritt, @nicicumpston, @centercirclnyu, NYU Department of Anthropology, @fredtjilpi, Faye Ginsburg, @thrashcreated, @tahkoxi

“Irriṯitja Kuwarri Tjungu: Contemporary Aboriginal Painting from the Australian Desert” is on view at the Grey through April 11, 2026. Come visit us!

Please enjoy some highlights from the week.
