This week I lectured the Health and Social Care students at @walthamforestcollege.

Real talk on frontline safeguarding. No textbook version.

Safeguarding is not a tick box. It is a mindset. And it starts with students like these. Thank you for the energy and the sharp questions. The future of care is in good hands.

Jayde became a mother at just 15 and spent part of her teenage years navigating the care system...

Today, she’s using those experiences to advocate for young people facing barriers across the UK.

We’re proud to welcome Jayde Edwards as Youth Ambassador for AA Educates! 🎉

Grateful for impact and community.

September was a special moment - the launch of the Back2School Campaign. @aminakabia_ came to me with an idea shaped by her own experience, and together we brought it to life. We were able to support families in Southwark with £2,500, provide laptops to young people, and open up real opportunities for them to move forward.

To close the campaign, we held a Town Hall in Southwark just before the school year began. Watching Amina stand up and speak so confidently to the community was a genuine highlight. Afterwards, so many young people came to me asking how they could create change in their own spaces - that’s the part that always stays with me.

Thank you to our partners @girlsunderconstruction @thecitywelfare @stemthinktank @fsmtrading_ @theguildsociety @weareirxcruit @socialchangers_ @nxtionsports @events__101 @accountedltd and to every person who believes in the work of changing lives, one at a time. Thank you for backing young people and trusting this vision: that those from low-income backgrounds can rise to become global leaders.

Listen to two of our Champions share their lived experience of pregnancy, young motherhood and maternal mental health struggles.

💜 Jayde encourages anyone listening to remember you deserve support.
💜 Raiye reminds us that small acts of self-care can be incredibly healing.

You are worthy of support, compassion, and joy. Make those heart-shaped pancakes for yourself. We know it’s exhausting, and the bar can feel too high, but please don't stop until you get the care you need.

The MMHA is here fighting to make sure every mother and birthing person can access the right mental health support at the right time, regardless of their postcode, age, race, or life experiences.

You can read more about Jayde and Raiye's stories on the MMHA website, or catch Jayde in @themotherhoodgroup's 'Make Black Mothers Visible' campaign film.

In this moving film, Jayde and Raiye have honest conversations about how having a baby at a young age impacted their lives and their mental health.

“I got through it against all odds, and you can too. But you don’t have to do it alone.” Raiye

They share their highs and lows, the joyful moments and challenges they experienced, and offer words of encouragement and hope for any young mums currently struggling.

“It's not going to be like this forever.” Jayde

See bio to watch the conversation in full.

We thank Jayde and Raiye for sharing their stories with us, and the @mentalhealthfoundation for making this film possible.

We’re working with the Foundation to raise awareness of the reality for young mums, educate people working with them about the importance of peer support, and create resources to help facilitate more life-saving connections.
