This summer has been all about reconnecting with my roots in Kennewick, spending time with family, friends, listening to live Spanish, Rock, and Musical theatre music, and change.

I was offered a full-ride scholarship to Seattle Pacific University, and I’ve decided to accept it. I will keep pursing my music degree! When I first arrived at Central, I didn’t know myself very well, but by the time I left, I had grown more than ever. Both as a person and as a musician. I was humbled, challenged, and surrounded by an incredible humans/Staff 🤌🏾. I met so many amazing people who I know will go on to do great things after their own time there.

Surprisingly, I found myself becoming closer with the orchestra homies, something I didn’t expect 😂. Leaving friends behind is bittersweet 🥺. It feels like I’m kicking a puppy 😭but I know I need to do what’s best for me. It’s hard to say goodbye, but I’m terrified but excited for the new experiences and people coming my way. Life throws unexpected changes. Seattle musicians/friends would love to sit in rehearsals and just watch! I’m always up for just being exposed to music! Or grab a coffee and catch up!

What a way to wrap up my 2nd year at Central!
The quarter where I felt like a singer again! 🥺 Definitely have been on the sentimental side of myself this quarter, hasn’t been easy. Reaching out to friends. Enjoying every moment that I have with my friends and loved ones because you never know what could happen. Was able to make music with my string people which was a big motivator this quarter, I struggled with French 🇫🇷, did secondary piano again, tried to be more empathetic and I realized more than ever what I want to do with music more. I also shifted my thinking about how I think about music and how it’s making real moments with other people rather than just myself. 🙏🏽 Juries and finals and I’m done 😭

Quarter wrapping up, glad for the experiences that happened this quarter with friends, new faces and challenges I’ve overcome. This quarters theme: conducting 1! First quarter where I did not feel like a singer singer 😂 but I got to conduct, finished piano sequence 😭, play the organ, score read, explore other genres and I got to see my friends do awesome things!

I survived my first year of the music department CWU. I struggled so much to get here to Ellensburg but honestly it was worth it at the end. Fall quarter I struggled so much because I only had friend, and the connections I’ve made throughout the year has been amazing. There’s so much that I wasn’t expecting like composing 2 songs, being able to make friends, learn so much about other music genres outside of jazz 😂. I never thought I could make it here, it was just a dream to me. This year just feels like a dream to me. It was worth meeting the people that I did. I used to think music was my therapy, it still is but it’s also about the intimacy and connections you make while you perform. I’m proud of myself, everyday I’m trying to make myself a more confident, grounded, sympathetic, kind, better musician and I hope I can make a difference with music one day. I love the people in my life, I care about them like no other. Thank you for being there everyone. Awesome school year.

My first composition. Was a crazy process and never in a million years would I think I would have actually done it. Grateful for the people who came and watched, it was a big deal for me. This composition is one I wrote more as a reflection as to what has been going on in my personal life and the people that I care about. Sometimes you can have serious moments or goofy moments but it’s those small moments with the people that you care about that matter. Even if people don’t care about me anymore or if they do, I will always care about them.
