Great fun was had celebrating Jakie Lu’s Birthday last night!

I had only met Jakie once before at The Powder Room cocktail lounge in Yorkville after my friend Brianne’s fashion show that was part of The Canada Fashion Project.

A few of us went there after the show, but Jessica couldn’t come because she had to stay at the gallery where she works because there was a little Rock & Roll concert there.

I met Jakie there when I went up to her to comment on the sunglasses that she was wearing because they looked like something that Grace Jones would wear. She was VERY flattered because, as a woman of Jamaican heritage, she LOVES Grace.

She’s originally from Chicago, but she’s been living and working in Toronto for a few years.

The venue was the head office of M Model and Talent Management where Jakie is a client.

I had a feeling that she and Jessica would get on well, but they hit it off like gangbusters, and a new friendship was made.

I met Jessica at Terroni on Adelaide for some dinner and to have a proper one on one catchup.

It was within walking distance of the party, so it worked out perfectly.

I was so touched by Jakie’s invitation because it turned out to be a very intimate party of some 15 people.

Happy Birthday, Jakie Lu!

An absolutely incredible night at the Charles Puma Art Gallery for the opening of Mexican/Canadian multi-media artist Susy Danelon’s show yesterday.

I went with my friends Jayne Lewis and Brian Woodrow. They hadn’t met one another before, but they got to know each other much better by the end of the night. We arranged to meet at Cassius restaurant/bar at 7:30 for a drink before going up the stairs to the event and much fun ensued.

Susy took the time to walk around the space with us to share her processes and inspirations for several of her specific works and minds were blown.

Susy was born and raised in Mexico City and has lived and worked in Toronto for many years. I won’t say too much about her work. Just look at the last photo to see her bio which obviates the need for me to write another novella.

Thanks again to Charles for inviting me to this wondrous and wonderfully curated collection.

I ran into a few of the “Usual Suspects” and met many more.

It’s always a party atmosphere there and it provides an opportunity for people who work in various fields to mingle and network.

Good times, good people, and great conversations.

Much fun was had at the Cinera party at the Aqua Supper Club last night!

The event was organized and produced by Morpheus Richards and Don C of 88 Media Collective to celebrate the closing day of TIFF. It brought together people and artists from fashion designers, models, dancers, filmmakers and directors, talent agents, and a LOT of actors.

I was invited by my friend Brianne Sherk who showed a few pieces from her fashion line Treble (her collection was shown at New York Fashion Week last week). Our friend Jessica was also there and she ended up walking in Brianne’s show because one of her models was still in NYC, so it was very last minute.
Jessica hasn’t modeled in many years, but she SLAYED that runway, because of course she did!

I met many new people including a young actor, Erica, who is repped by the same agent as me, Teri Ritter.
Small World!
