Strength training is crucial for gymnasts during the off-season. A strong foundation built during the off-season ensures that gymnasts are physically prepared for the more intense training sessions and competitions ahead.

Key Components of an Off-Season Strength Training Program:

🤸🏻‍♀️Power and Explosiveness: Building muscle power is essential for explosive movements in gymnastics such as tumbling, vaulting, and dynamic elements on bars.

🤸🏻‍♀️Muscular Endurance: Improving muscular endurance helps gymnasts sustain high performance levels during routines without excessive fatigue.

🤸🏻‍♀️Core Strength: A strong core is vital for maintaining balance, stability, and control during complex movements and skills.

🤸🏻‍♀️Sport-Specific Exercises: Movements that mimic gymnastics skills to enhance relevant muscle groups.

For today’s Senior Spotlight we have Jazmine Neely! Jaz’s favorite memory with Cornerstone is Battle of the Birds and the Morton Pumpkin Festival.

A fun fact about Jaz is that she has never used a dishwasher until her junior year of college, which her roommates were at the time very surprised because she had to learn how. She was also a gymnast at ISU! After graduating she is spending the summer in Dallas to chill and take a break from school and hopefully get to do some traveling. She plans on coming back around July or August and working as a nurse on an adolescent mental health unit. Congrats Jaz 🎓🎉
