SAVE THE DATE LPA - Oct 25th at 8pm ET !!! Celebrating International Dwarfism Awareness Day and Billy Barty’s birthday, what better way to do that than to have a community screening of 3 short films built by performers with dwarfism/ LPs?!?! This is for you - LPA @littlepeopleofamerica !!! We will be doing a collaborative event with @dwarf.artist.coalition (DAC) and members of our film team to come together to watch the “How We Look” Project and to also hear from some of the cast and producers of the shorts. The DAC and LPA supported the original grant writing process to create seed funding for this project. If you’ve seen the feature documentary The Tallest Dwarf, you might remember a LP centered film project within the larger film. These short films have officially hit theaters, with a world premiere at Reelabilities Film Festival NY and most recently at the Superfest Film Festival in San Francisco. We are thrilled to bring this collection of films to our LPA community for the first time!! After we watch the collection of films, we will have a panel including participating artists and have a discussion about our history, our legacy, and what it means to create art together as a community. That one magical day in June when @tourmaliiine and Cameron sprinkled us all in pure love infused fairy dust, fed us glowing honey from their bees and sweet pecans from their trees. I’m so proud to share that my directorial debut, a documentary short, “The People’s Beach,” a history of the land we call Riis and the existential threats facing its future, will premiere at NYFF as part of the New York shorts program @filminc.

“One of the city’s legendary cruising spots, Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways, is today, despite encroaching gentrification, the public space where queer and trans New Yorkers, especially of color, can be most comfortable in the least clothing. Juxtaposing priceless archival material with sunny and sensual new footage, J. Wortham’s documentary is a history, a celebration, and a rallying cry.”

HELLO WORLD - after a years-long intentional process of creation, the HOW WE LOOK PROJECT will World Premiere at @ReelAbilities Film Festival New York ! HOW WE LOOK is a collection of three narrative short films about dwarf culture and the little people (LP) experience, created and performed by LPs. Each film centers one act of image-making, from medical imaging , to sideshow photography, to renaissance portraiture. If you’ve seen @thetallestdwarffilm - these films are what we were making in the workshop that the doc chronicles - come see the films - we’ll be there in person!

Marjory Stoneman Douglas came to Sasha in a dream and inspired them to learn more about the lands they call home, The Everglades 🐊 Sasha made this beautiful Documentary about the River of Grass and before I was asked to Moderate the Q+A I didn’t know much about The Everglades and just how unique and special they are. Thank you to our Miccosukee and Seminole Relatives who continue to fight to save their homelands and Thank You to @sashawortzel for Dreaming🐚🌊✨

Officially ADR and picture wrapped this weekend on feature film, Harmony. We shot this project originally a little while ago and made some truly beloved friends—imagine a month long summer camp where you get to do what you love every day with lovely people who care just as much? Dream dream dream. Hard to post anything without spoilers, but oh boy this is gonna be a fun one. This project was made with the generosity of so, SO many people, some of which are below.

In light of today’s Epstein file drop, which once again includes modeling agents directly cozying up to a known sex trafficker, I feel the need to reshare this video.

Financial and sexual abuse, and trafficking, in the modeling industry is rampant. It was in 2009 when @next founder Faith Kates wrote her buddy Epstein on his release from prison, and it is now. And it involves big agencies, big names, and goes all the way to the top.

Models in NY: You have protections under the Fashion Workers Act. You are no longer required to sign power of attorney over to your agency. You must be provided with deal memos. You get paid overtime after eight hours. Agencies must be fiscally transparent.

And if your agency is not complying with these and other regulations under the law, you can report them to the NY DOL and AG’s office without fear of retribution (because the Fashion Workers Act protects you from that too, and gives you the ability to sue if you think your rights are being violated).
