🌺✨ "Gulmohar | Memories of Bangalore" ✨🌺
I’m thrilled to share this piece, "Gulmohar | Memories of Bangalore," inspired by my recent trip to Bangalore, India. This journey was truly special, as I finally got to meet my incredible Product Experience team in person after years of online collaboration.

A highlight of the trip was having my dear friend, Anjali, join us to share her inspiring life and work story. Anjali is like a sister from another life, and it was amazing to see her connect with my team, whom I've often spoken to about her. I was also fortunate enough to get to meet her dear Mom and reconnect with her brother, Manjesh, both unexpected highlights of our trip.

Adding to the magic, my husband, Jeff, accompanied me on this trip. He engaged my team with a meaningful discussion on the importance of Accessibility, a cause that is close to both of our hearts. Jeff’s insights were invaluable, and it was a moment of connection and learning for all of us.

The vibrant Gulmohar tree depicted in this piece, also known as the Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant, and often referred to as one of the several trees known as the Flame tree, holds a special place in my heart. Its brilliant blossoms remind me of my travels to tropical destinations, especially India. Anjali’s family once had a Gulmohar tree in their front yard, and she has shared countless fond memories of its beauty and significance.

The Gulmohar symbolizes resilience, beauty, and the vibrant tapestry of life’s experiences, much like the bonds we forge and the memories we create with those dear to us.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and any memories you have of special trees or travels in the comments below! 🌴❤️

Mangave ‘Moonglow’ about to bloom with Mexican mint marigold, ‘Amistad’ salvia, and Philippine violet. I introduced some gardening friends to each other in my garden today - from East Austin, North Austin, and Southwest Austin. It’s all about the connections we make, am I right? Communities flower as beautifully as plants with a little cross-pollination!

— “Celebrating and remembering Roger Ashton "Bunny" Critzer, III (1958 - 1995).

My husband and I met Roger in the early 1990s while staring indecisively at a wall of VHS tapes at Steve's Broadway Video in Seattle. He glided over, reached between us, snatched up two tapes and told us to watch them - with a lighthearted laugh that was his signature. We left with two foreign films in hand (both movies were great) and a deep and enduring friendship began.

While Roger ruled that video shop, his true dominion was a small, cozy apartment on Capitol Hill that he'd stuff with friends every July on his birthday - and for a lucky few, host amazing small dinner parties. Roger would toss names of friends into a glass fishbowl and randomly draw dinner guests from all walks of life - engineers, opera singers, grocery baggers, a porn star (and his mom!), etc. You never knew who would attend and it was always an extraordinary evening. Roger would burst from his kitchen to announce the next of many dishes, pour more wine, and launch into a story that perfectly brought each of us into the conversation. We would all talk late into the night and wake up hoping for the next invitation.

Roger was also one of the few people I knew who gave out calling cards. They had nothing to do with his employment, simply his name, phone, and these words, "Chef • Raconteur • Activist.” He was expertly skilled at each, being a fierce and vocal advocate for AIDS funding, treatment and research. I never knew exactly where his nickname of “Bunny” originated but I suspect it was from his time living in Dallas. Roger did everything large, with a touch of Southern charm and sass.

Roger was going to officiate our wedding in the Fall of 1994, no one would have done it better. Unfortunately, his health took a bad turn and he passed not long after. I miss my friend a lot, but every time I hear @JanetJackson's "Together Again" I think of him “cause I can see your star, shinin' down on me" (and all of us).” With love, Jeff & Skottie.” — by Jeff Breitenstein @jbreit_atx #whatisrememberedlives

The arches of The Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, took my breath away. I’ve always been drawn to arches, have included them in our gardens at Tanglewild, etc. but these are next level!

Oman was another stunning destination that our cruise stopped at. Muscat has beautiful white buildings everywhere, giving the whole area a very elegant appeal.
