Amazing to see audiences loving BELOW on Netflix and keeping it #1!

An incredible team braved all elements to capture the scope and personality of Newfoundland — from filming on more sizes & shapes of boat than you can imagine, to building a town on a town… from a Lego ship for scale to the necessary Screech In research at Chistian’s Pub. What an amazing group of humans made this show and poured their heart, passion, and spirit into it.

Thank you team BELOW! You are best kind. 💙

ONE WEEK OF BELOW!!! ❤️

I love everyone who made this, what a dream team 🫂

(I take very occasional / terrible photos so have little to offer on the bts front but there was the making of a drinkable puddle that captivated me....)

Thank you for helping us sell out another Good Yarn! 🧶 What a time we had hearing tales from some of the outstanding stars of BELOW and then improvising scenes inspired by them!

Many many thanks to Willow Kean, Larry Barry, and Mary Walsh for joining us as guest monologists! Your stories were so funny and full of heart and rich details for us to have fun with. We’re unbelievably honoured to have shared the stage with you.

And thank you to everyone who came out and showed us so much love! We felt your support so deeply leading up to the show, throughout the performance, and especially as we celebrated afterward. What a joy and blessing it is to be part of this community!

To my fellow Good Yarn cast mates (Betty, Dana, Dani, Evan, Julian, Julien, Luke, Miri, and me, Rayanne!): Thank you for putting your all into this show and into our team. It continues to pay off and is very appreciated. It’s clear in our performance how hard we work and how much we love playing with each other 🫶

There’s a lot more to come from Good Yarn and St. John’s Improv, so keep following along and we’ll see you soon! 🩵

We sat down with co-directors Adam Belanger and David Lafontaine to discuss their feature directorial debut, A BREED APART.

Set on a remote farm in 1850s Canada, the period drama follows an English cattle breeder and his 9-year-old son struggling to connect while building a life in a harsh new land.

Belanger and Lafontaine break down the extensive historical research that brought the story to life, finding inspiration in local settler museums, and the unexpected realities of directing livestock on set.

A BREED APART will screen at Imagine Cinemas Carlton in Toronto, from Oct 9th - Oct 15th!

Don’t miss the opening night screening on Oct 9 at 6:40 pm, followed by an in-person Q&A with the filmmakers! 🎟️

#BELOW is out today on @netflix! And there are too many Joshes on this boat!!

Had a stupidly special time in one of my favourite places working with some true gems - on, off and around the camera.

Big east coast thank-yous to the whole team @netflixca for getting this story told, to Netflix and @pacesetterprod, @buchanknightcasting @meagan.a.h for taking great care of me, @hatcherpicks @lou_lou_land @jessicarhoades @helen.shaver @notstephendunn and Jamie for having me and for your care, hard work and pursuit of creative excellence, @vivien.e.douglas for your love and support always, and most of all to @jesse.mckeown. This man Jesse ran a joyful, collaborative and sturdy ship while handling everything from Newfoundland weather to sinking houses with calm, grace and a smile and a singular vision. He and his directing and producing team cultivated an amazing work environment (meaning they put up with my endless improvs and didn't fire me)

So excited for the world to share the stories that Jesse, @helloiwrite @perrychafe and @hometeamnatty created, and that we got to tell. Big love to my spaghetti boys and the people of St John's (especially @officialmarywalsh)

Below

When a deadly, unseen sea creature begins terrorizing a remote Newfoundland fishing town, a stubborn fisherman and a marine biologist are forced to defend their vanishing community against an ancient terror. Following its buzzy premiere in the Primetime program at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, the atmospheric creature-feature sparked debate among genre fans over whether its terrifying environmental themes hit too close to home regarding ocean conservation and real-world maritime disasters. The entire 6-episode limited series hits screens worldwide on October 8, 2026.
