When @stevepalmer12 and @mickeybakst founded Ben's Friends it's sole purpose was to help the food & beverage workers struggling with addiction. That mission hasn't changed and we thank each of you for your support in helping us grow Ben's Friends into what it is today.

We have made a slight change to how you find us on Instagram and Facebook. Moving forward @bensfriendsnational (on Instagram) and Ben's Friends - National (on Facebook) will now be @bensfriendshope and Ben's Friends Hope respectively.

Please share this post to help us spread the word!

This week marks FIVE YEARS of Ben's Friends! 🎉🙌💥👏

Founded in honor of our late friend, Ben Murray, a lifelong chef who took his own life after struggling with alcoholism for years - @stevepalmer12 and @mickeybakst started Ben's Friends to get people talking about the deadly role of substance abuse in the restaurant industry and to create a place where industry folks could get help.

Thank you to all who have helped carry the message that hope and a path forward are possible. We couldn't have done it without you and the community you've helped build.

What started in Charleston, SC has grown nationwide to Portland, OR, Healdsburg, CA, Asheville, NC, Detroit, MI, Charlotte, NC, Washington, DC, Richmond, VA, Austin, TX, Seattle, WA, Atlanta, GA, Columbus, OH, Louisville, KY, Kansas City, MO & Viera, FL.

Here's to thriving together sober in an industry we love! 💙

This weekend marks ONE YEAR of our online meetings! A year unlike any other has brought our group the amazing gift of a nationwide community we couldn’t have imagined.

The power of “we” is a constant refrain at Ben’s Friends and it has never mattered more than through the fear, jobs lost, jobs found or careers changed; sickness and death, and return to health for many; daily support from people who love each other and understand what living sober through anything means.

We celebrate new restaurants and food ventures, a wedding, all sorts of personal challenges and milestones...and we will keep doing it together with experience, strength and hope for the future.

Happiest of birthdays to the fool at the end of the couch. Look at us in a smoky basement, looking super sophisticated with cigarettes and that sweet baggy 90s denim. What can you say about a man who grew from humble roots to become a combat veteran, a journalist and a politics powerhouse? The Chairman of the Board of Fraud industries, an innovator in customer service and a true friend to valued patrons everywhere. Wherever he goes, that’s where New Jersey is. And wherever he is today, I wish I could be there with him to celebrate another year as friends.
