MANCHO50- release 37/50. This weeks release is titled Tangible Sound. I totally ripped the name off an amazing exhibit at the Chicago Cultural Center. I had the opportunity to do a one hour improv set there a few weeks ago. I usually have some preset loops and ideas that I improvise over. The evening after my set I recorded this piece using the same set of samples and sounds. Its a 19 min meditation mixing kaoss pads, handsonic and handpan.
Then this week my favorite Chicago-based drummer, Makaya McCraven did an improv set at the same exhibit (different room) and improvised on a drumkit that I backlined and his own electronic setup. A truly amazing hour of sounds. Never knew my kit could sound like that.
Big thanks to Lauren,Jonathan and Jesse Cryderman @tangible_sound_immersive_

What a moment. ✨
Saturday's opening of Tangible Sound at the Chicago Cultural Center was magical — I'm still processing the gratitude I feel for being part of such a meaningful exhibition in one of the most stunning buildings in this city.
This project has been a labor of love, and seeing it come alive in the first floor galleries was genuinely moving.

If you haven't seen it yet, Thursday is your moment. April 30th is International Jazz Day, and the Cultural Center will be celebrating. Come experience Tangible Sound in the most perfect context imaginable. 🎶

Shout out and thanks to @rsfashionphoto for the majority of these shots. Rubin did an incredible job capturing the energy of the day.
