What's going on there, peoples?! How's life today? It's 88° on a Tuesday afternoon of Sept 2, 2025, and I got a very short gelatin dessert story to share with you right about now. .
.
Jell-O 1-2-3 was a popular dessert product that magically separated into 3 distinct layers - a creamy top, a fluffy middle, and a gelatin bottom - after being prepared with a blender and refrigerated. It was introduced in 1969. .
.
While the original product was discontinued in 1996, copycat recipes using Jell-O hot water, and Cool Whip are available online to recreate the nostalgic, layered treat. .

This shit here was so damn good, I kept (and still) wondering why Jell-O stop marketing this product in the 1st place. This is another thing we need to set up a petition to be brought back in stores worldwide. .

RIP

BIG QUESTION! .
.
Who can remember the wave of action figures including new versions of of He-Man and Skeletor with special features: Thunder-Punch He-Man (whose backpack could be loaded with plastic ring caps to create a loud "bang" when turning his waist) and Dragon-Blaster Skeletor (which included a small water-squirting dragon chained to his armor) being released by Mattel Toys in 1985? .

Right now, I got an utmost 1980s music story to share with you. .
.
"With or Without You" is a song by rock band U2. It's the 3rd track on their 5th album The Joshua Tree, and was released as the album's lead single on March 16, 1987. The song was the group's most successful single at the time, becoming their 1st № 1 hit in both US and Canada by topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 consecutive weeks by this day in the same year, and the RPM national singles chart for 1 week... with a further 3 weeks at № 2. The smash hit features sustained guitar parts by guitarist The Edge with a prototype of the Infinite Guitar, along with vocals by lead singer Bono and bassline by bassist Adam Clayton. The rock ballad originated from a demo recorded in late 1985 that the group continued to work on throughout The Joshua Tree sessions. Ostensibly a song about troubled love, the track's lyrics were inspired by Bono's conflicting feelings about the lives he led as a musician and domestic man. Critics praised the song upon its release. It is frequently performed on the band's tours, and it appeared on many of their compilation albums and concert films. .
.
The hit song is U2's 2nd most frequently covered song. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song 131st on its list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". .

You know? I gotta admit, these guys put out some great songs throughout their career, but this song surely takes the cake. Love it! .

Thanks, U2 and Island Records!!

AN EXPLOSION ROCKS YELLOWKNIFE AT THE HEIGHT OF A LABOR DISPUTE 32 YEARS AGO TODAY! .
.
The Giant Mine was a gold mine located on the Ingraham Trail, 5 km (3.1 mi) north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. The mine was within the Kam Group, a part of the Yellowknife greenstone belt. Gold was discovered on property and mineral claims staked in 1935 by Johnny Baker... but true extent of gold deposits was not known til 1944, when a massive gold-bearing shear zone was uncovered beneath the drift-filled Baker Creek Valley. .
.
On this day in 1992, at the height of a labor altercation during the run of Royal Oak Mines ownership, a dangerous explosion in a drift of the mine, 750 ft (230 m) underground, killed 9 strikebreakers. Mine employee Roger Warren was later apprehended for 9 counts of 2nd-degree murder in connection of the mine bombings. He was convicted in 1995, and served 18 years in prison, due to his confession to Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The strike/lockout ended in 1993, pursuant to an order by the run of Canada Labour Relations Board. A civil suit also resulted on behalf of families of replacement workers that died in the explosion (Fullowka v. Royal Oak Ventures Inc.) .
.
In 2008, 9 Giant Mine widows lost their $10 million civil judgment when Northwest Territories Supreme Court overturned an earlier ruling. .

PURPLE RAIN POURS DOWN IN THEATERS WORLDWIDE ON THIS DAY IN 1984! .
.
Purple Rain is a romantic rock musical drama film scored by and starring Prince in his acting debut. Developed to showcase his talents, it contains several concert sequences, featuring Prince and his band The Revolution. The film is directed by Albert Magnoli (who later became Prince's manager) from a screenplay by Magnoli and William Blinn. The cast also features Apollonia Kotero, Morris Day, Olga Karlatos and Clarence Williams III. .
.
Principal photography took place almost entirely in Minneapolis: the film features many local landmarks, including the Crystal Court of the IDS Center and the First Avenue nightclub, which was paid $100,000 for being used during filming; it was closed for 25 days. Some of the First Avenue scenes were shot at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. .
.
The film grossed $70.3 million worldwide, against its $7.2 million budget. It won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. Publications and critics have regarded Purple Rain as one of the greatest musical films. In 2019, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

A CONCERT SPINS OUT OF CONTROL ON THIS DAY IN 1991! .
.
Guns N' Roses was performing a concert on their Use Your Illusion Tour at the Riverport Amphitheatre (now named Casino Amphitheatre) in Maryland Heights, MI near St. Louis. During the band's performance "Rocket Queen" which was the 15th song in the set (counting drum and guitar solos), Axl Rose - in the middle of the chorus - pointed out an overeager fan who was taking still pictures of the show to the security. When security didn't act fast enough or were unable to confront the fan with the camera, Axl decided to take matters into his own hands and jumped into the crowd, tackling him. After taking the camera, striking audience members and security team, and being pulled out of the audience by crew members, Axl cursed the security out, slamming the mic onto the floor and storming off the stage with the rest of band following. This infuriated the crowd, setting off a 3-hour riot in which more than 60 people (including several dozen police and security officers) were injured and estimating a cost of over $200,000 in damages. Axl was charged with having to be an accessory to the riot and facing a fine up to $50,000. The fan with the camera sued Axl for $210,000 as retribution for damages and his injuries. They reached an agreement wherein the rock star paid him $160,000. Although charges were filed, the judge ruled he did not directly incite the riot. .
.
Axl later stated GNR security team had made 4 separate requests to venue's security staff to remove the camera, each of which were ignored; members of the band had reported being hit by bottles from the audience; venue's security allowed weapons into the arena and refused to enforce a drinking limit. Consequently, Use Your Illusion I and II's artwork featured a message in their 'Thank You' notes: "Fuck You, St. Louis!". .
