A year of choosing each other.

Marriage is harder than it seems, but also more rewarding than we ever could have imagined.

We’ve learned that love isn’t just something we feel; it’s choosing each other, again and again, especially on the days when it would be easier to choose ourselves. It’s forgiving quickly, giving grace freely, and remembering that we’re on the same team.

We’re learning to gather the roses and leave the thorns. And I’d choose this life, and you, all over again-

On January 29 2018, I was blessed to join the legacy of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when I joined #TalibKweli for a live performance with @bjthechicagokid and #thewhiskeyboyz. To see the final show tonight is heartbreaking….Besides being a true comic genius, @colbert is truly a real one, a fearless one…speaking truth to power night after night. We appreciate you so much my brother. ✊🏾 Shoutout to my bro @reallouiscato shining his light as the music director. Sending love and light to the entire crew…. you are much appreciated and we will be following into the next chapter.

7 months ago, I married the love of my life.

And quietly, we stepped into a new life together; one that we chose to protect, nurture, and experience without the weight of the outside world.

This season has been sacred.
Stretching. Refining. Beautiful in ways beyond words.

In many ways, we had already come to know each other’s rhythms, cultures, and hearts over the years. Marriage didn’t start something new. It grounded what had already been growing.

What’s been new is learning how to walk in true partnership: building something that now feels anchored, covered, and deeply rooted.

I’m reminded that not everything needs to be seen to be real. Some of the most meaningful growth happens in private.
