Galvin Green Man x Honey & Co Cookbook Launch (15Sep26). Food: 9/10, Atmosphere: 10/10, Solo diner rating: 10/10.
I used to come here for dinner EVERY single week so I have a soft spot for this place. My favourite bar manager Katie was back from maternity leave and today they were hosting a special one off launch of the great Middle Eastern restaurant Honey & Co’s everyday cookbook. I went to Honey & Co in 2012 when it first opened near Warren Street. It was cramped with only about 10 tables but reminded me of some of my favourite restaurants in Greece and Cyprus. Fast forward to 2026 and cute husband and wife team are still at it, but with a bigger, more spacious space. The starter was a wild mushroom, cumin and potato soup - perfect for the autumn and topped with a lovely salty kale crisp and yoghurt. I only wished I had some focaccia or pitta to mop up the soup! Main was the chicken with walnuts, spelt and figs - REALLY hearty and filling, perfectly cooked. For dessert I took the lovely waitress’s advice and ordered the Tiptree strawberry Eton Mess. SHE said it was a 10/10 dessert and I agreed - perfectly savoury and not too sweet cream in the centre of delicious fresh strawberries and meringue crisps. All of this was accompanied by wines. Chardonnay for the starter (who knew soup went well with wine?!), a Rioja for the main (crianza so nice and oaky) and, my choice, the Cretan sweet wine (couldn’t have matched better with the Eton mess if I knew anything about wine!) Jeff Galvin was there to compere the proceedings and sign my menu! Itamar, the lovely man behind the restaurant was there to chat and exchange contact details. I’m gonna send him a signed copy of my friends @gregbeadzauthor new book ADVENTURES IN A CARDBOARD BOX Volume 1 and he’s going to entertain me in his lovely restaurant! BOSH!

After Nick Landers bought @lescargotsoho the team revolutionised dining and the regeneration of Soho. Those involved went on to change the face of the London restaurant scene. Subsequent chefs and FoH cemented the restaurants reputation.

This is still one of my favourite restaurants @chrisgalvin8 and @jeffgalvin1 constantly deliver incredible menus that look and taste delicious! The service is also exceptional here. Now I need to get home and do some pull-ups to counter some of these surprises 🤣

🎬 Dining out with Duck Episode 6: Westminster Capital City College, London

This week, we’re at @westminster_capitalcitycollege and you should seriously book yourself a table @thevincentrooms

At Gressingham, we are proud to support the college and work with Senior Chef Lecturer Jose Souto, @wild_food_boy on providing Gressingham products for butchery lessons, cookery and events.

You can dine in either, The Escoffier for fine dining or The Brasserie which are entirely ran and managed by the students. Senior Chef Lecturer, Jose Souto shows us around the UK’s leading school of hospitality and culinary arts.

In 1910, Baroness Burdette-Coutts along with Auguste Escoffier and Caesar Ritz worked together to create a school for people to train in professional cookery. Over the last 115 years, Westminster Capital City College has produced some of the UK’s finest chefs including: Henry Herbert @feastwithhenryherbert, Mark Froydenlund @thefroydenlunds, Ainsley Harriott @ainsleyfoods, Jamie Oliver MBE @jamieoliver, Mark Hill MBE, Jeff Galvin @jeffgalvin1, John Williams MBE, CME @johnwilliamschef, Selin Kiazim @selinkiazim, Ben Murphy @benmurphychef, Sophie Wright @sophiewrightchef, Anthony Worrell Thompson @officialwozza and we’re excited to meet the next generation! 🧑‍🍳

We heard from the current students on what they enjoy about their course and what their plans are after studying.

Here’s what’s on today’s menu:

Starter: Gressingham Duck and Guinea Fowl Pressed Terrine. Cured and smoked at the college, served with an apple and rhubarb compote and a seeded puff pastry crisp. 🍎 🍴

Main: Slow cooked Gressingham Duck Breast, Shiitake mushroom, duck leg ragu, soya and duck dashi, duck sauce, rice cake, English asparagus, baby carrot. 🍙 🍄 🥕

Chef Lecturer, Norman explains the process: “The duck is dry brined, scored, blanched, then slow cooked on the Synergy Grill @synergygrilltechnology for around two hours before resting and caramelising the skin.”
