Documentary? Date Show? Disaster. Was asked how it was possible to make a near budget-less film that landed worldwide streaming distribution and my answer is: I’m friends with a lot of very generous & talented Hollywood actors led by @jeffthebowser @thatelainekao and two dozen more homies that trusted me to put the spotlight on them to create and play. At the Global Summit to End Diabetes Stigma in Jaipur, India at the end of March, experts and advocates from around the world gathered to discuss the impacts of diabetes stigma and share innovative new solutions. One of diaTribe’s initiatives, Spoonful of Laughter, showcased a strategy to replace harmful narratives and stereotypes about diabetes with more accurate, respectful, and hilarious ones. What do you think we should do next with Spoonful of Laughter? --- A screening of The Bad 1, an award-winning silent film by Jeffrey Bowser in partnership with Spoonful of Laughter, brought laughter, tears, and a moving conversation about what it means to be seen and supported with diabetes. diaTribe's dStigmatize Content Manager, Shae Puckett, spoke about the impact of Spoonful of Laughter, saying that "We can’t just tackle stigma within the diabetes space. Comedy allows us to reach beyond the diabetes community and challenge the harmful stereotypes that persist all around us." Back in the day…we shot spec commercials, spec music videos, spec everything. Any day on set was a good day. Still is. This @fedex spot was shot in the old LA Times building with friends and family. It was written by #tomchristmann of @tinyadagency @jeffthebowser still makes me laugh to this day…playing multiple versions of himself. We moved him around and did the old school VFX technique of verticality slicing the frames…and comping them together with the help of the genius flame artist @chrishomel Shoot all you can, as much as you can, whenever you can… #comedy #funny #commercial #film

It's a fact I'm an introvert. For the most part, I have three close friends that I've had..... forever. One in Tomah Wisconsin, one outside the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and one in Los Angeles. This past weekend, I saw them all on the same day! Jeff had come to Wisconsin to ride in the T1D ride in LaCrosse. I joined his Southern California team for the ride. Jim made the trip from the Cities to hang out with us for the weekend. On the way home from LaCrosse, I stopped in Tomah to spend some time with Jay. Best friends are so amazing in that no matter how much time passes, you can pick up wherever you left off no matter how long ago. Whether it's eating Doritos, quoting Chevy Chase movies, or just laughing uncontrollably over the size of the pillows in your hotel room.... best friends just get it!
