“Soul Echoes” is a piece composed by J.E. Hernandez and based on sworn declarations from migrants in detention centers and is in collaboration with Project Amplify; an organization dedicated to protecting child migrants in government care. Excited to work with ConcertiaHTX and University of Colorado to amplify these stories. I sincerely want to treat this with the upmost respect, honor and intention; as every one of these stories should be handled. Feeling immense gratitude to serve my community in every way that I can. Also a sneak at the incomparable @hfitchphotography and her ability to capture such pure moments of humanity. Love working with her! @concertiahtx @project_amplify #newwork #importantwork #heretostay #immigrant #immigrants #immigration #heartwork #opera #performer #advocacy

I’m so grateful to know @sarah_ruhl_ as a mentor and friend. To going to see her opera Eurydice @metopera to being mentored by her @operaamerica on my own opera with @weinbergmusic. And (big news!) to have my first opera with @ronaldmauricemusic commissioned by @operatheatrestl who also originally commissioned Terence Blanchard’s Champion and Fire Shut Up in my Bones! It’s been an amazing journey and I’m honored by her praise for TENDER MACHINES, coming out on May 1! It would mean so much if you preordered, link in bio… . . #opera #sarahruhl #tendermachines #poetry #librettist #poetsofinstagram #poets #music #tupelopress #books #poetrybooks #poetrycommunity
