THE COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS — VOL. 4
I had the pleasure of shooting Jelani, co-founder of JoinLinks and one of the people doing the real work behind LA’s organizer and community builder scene.

Jelani’s a New York cat and it shows. He’s direct, self-aware, and doesn’t waste words. Before he was a founder, he was a teacher. And that background never left him. The way he thinks about community is rooted in that same patience and intentionality, meeting people where they are and building from there.

He played cornerback at Cornell, still stays active in team sports, and carries that competitor’s mindset into everything he does. Focused. Accountable. Always prepared.

Through JoinLinks, he’s helped create real infrastructure for organizers and community builders across the city, connecting people to spaces, movements, and each other.

Between shots, he shared what’s kept him motivated through the different chapters of his journey. It was a good reminder that the people building community are usually the ones who’ve been showing up long before anyone was paying attention.

Join Jelani and the JoinLinks community — and plug in.

2025 Wrapped 🎀

Through highs and lows, beginnings and ends, restarts and kickstarts, and everything in between God has been faithful.

Restoring community, finding love, celebrating friends, unlocking new milestones, time with family, and all in all restoring health to a lot of areas in my life. I’d say this was a year of homeostasis. 2024 was a rollercoaster - had me in the atmosphere but also in the pits, and while this year wasn’t picture perfect it was pretty darn good to me through and through.

Much lies ahead in 2026 and while goal setting, and re-anchoring are sure ways forward, it’s important to reflect and sit in once was and where it’s brought you. There’s some big things on the books for this next year and I know God will do His big one yet again.

Blessed and HIGHLY favored. Thank you Lord and thank you everyone pictured and not, who made this year exceptional beyond measure. 🤍
