Today concluded with the closing reception and artist/curator talk for You Can’t Make Homes Out Of Human-beings.

We had a rich discussion on the shows theme moderated by Vena J @thekonfessionkorner who held the space so beautifully with her thought provoking questions and joyful presence.

I learned so much about the artists and their process that I hadn’t learned before. I got to take it all in and have the audience engage in such a real and authentic way.

We also sold 2 pieces today which made 7 sold pieces total!!!! I’m incredibly humbled by this and it was a testament to the artists and their amazing work.

I will continue to express my gratitude for all of the people who came out to support, sent a text, sent a voice memo, silently cheered us on, or mentioned you’ve seen something about the show in passing. It all mattered and touched me tremendously.

I will be taking a break to recover a bit and I will allow that break to inform me about where I’d like to go next.

With all the love and gratitude,

Audra

Words on Longing featuring @sapio.senses was incredible.

Mike took his time and created all new spoken word material on the fly for each of the artists that were present and their body of work for You Can’t Make Homes Out Of Human-beings.

No memorizing lines or practicing technique; He literally created original poetry IN REAL TIME.

He took the art to a whole new level and it was beautiful to watch people be truly present in the moment.

Engaged and inspired.

We also had a beautiful piece from @rebel_leona that sold by a collector who couldn’t be happier.

Thank you again to everyone who came out and shared space with us tonight. I’m continually humbled by my community.

Up next: The Artist Talk next Saturday at @homme_dc! Stay tuned ✨
