Opening night of Bocking @bmorecenterstage with an afterparty by producer @lenawaithe at @atmamakokos . Definitely one of the best celebrations I’ve attended. From the first rehearsal, I felt like I’d found home. Forever grateful for this playwright @pennedbypreston cast, creative team, staff and community. For the time, trust and craft, for an artistic space where artists are invited to practice 100% of themselves, a theatre that takes big risks, that unabashedly practices love, that stands behind their principles, even when there’s pressure to do otherwise. And thank you to @nez_davis for coming down to support and share in the joy! This was a summer of artistic kinship in so many ways and a wonderful way to close it out.

The 2025 Zelda Fichandler Celebration | 4.6.26

Last night, SDCF presented the 2025 Fichandler Award to Joanie Schultz of the Central Region, and recognized finalists Dr. Brian Cheslik, Maija García, and Addie Gorlin-Han.

The evening included remarks from Audrey Francis—Co-Artistic Director at Steppenwolf Theatre, Laura Peete—SDCF Foundation Director, Laura Penn—SDC Executive Director, Charlie Newell—former Artistic Director of Court Theater and Fichandler Honoree 2013, Braden Abraham—Chair of the 2025 Zelda Fichandler Award Committee, with award presentation by Vanessa Severo.
