Have you had Sardinian food before? La Ciccia (pronounced “Chee-cha”) takes your tastebuds on a journey to the Italian island of Sardinia using fresh and authentic ingredients from the beautiful destination. This year, the celebrated Noe Valley restaurant rings in its impressive 19th anniversary. To commemorate it, owner Cheryl wanted to do something special: Transform their back porch patio into a hidden gem European oasis (complete with hanging lights and a beautiful 4-walled mural). When I arrived, the artist @a__d.light was still hard at work on the painting, and even though it’s not completely done yet, it’s already stunning. It truly transports you to the Italian seaside. Plus, they’ll be installing new patio coverings soon!

It’s the perfect place to get an intimate gathering together. On this peaceful night, our group enjoyed their prix fixe menu. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, but my favorites were the Burrata, Calamari, Spaghetti with Cured Fish Roe, Potato Truffles Gnocchi (melt in your mouth), and the Chocolate Mousse dessert.

La Ciccia was voted one of the best Italian restaurants in San Francisco by Infatuation SF and was previously named one of the Top 100 Restaurants by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Who else thinks nabemono would be perfect during this chilly Bay Area week? Nabe is a fantastic spot for Japanese hot pot, offering not only all your favorite proteins and fixings, but also extras like takoyaki and potstickers! And their homemade butter mochi with ice cream 👌🏼

My favorite part of this experience is that they make a porridge out of your leftover soup broth in the end by adding rice and nori! I’d never seen that before, and it made for the most comforting meal the next day.

@jen_aboutsf and I discovered we’re both big sukiyaki fans so we got a double sukiyaki for our broth. The best.
