Advocacy starts on day one. Showing up and building relationships with our legislators @rep.nabeelasyed and our communities are essential. CRNAs are vital to healthcare access, and our voices matter.

Proud to engage our Rosalind Franklin residents @rfums.nursing in advocacy and show them the importance of having a seat at the table.

The Overdose Awareness 5K brought families, community members and local organizations together for a morning of remembrance, education and connection. Beyond the 5K, the event’s resource fair connected attendees with organizations working to support individuals and families affected by substance use disorder.

Thank you to the @lakecountyopioidinitiative, @lakecountysao Eric Rinehart, Coroner @jenbcrna, and our community partners for bringing our community together to remember, raise awareness and take action.

If you’ve ever heard someone say, “Ohio opted out, so they have Full Practice Authority now,” you’re not alone—but that’s not how it works.

Opt-Out and Full Practice Authority (FPA) are two different policies that operate at two different levels of government.

• Opt-Out is a federal Medicare policy that removes the physician supervision requirement for CRNAs under Medicare.

• FPA is state legislation that determines how CRNAs are licensed and authorized to practice under state law.

Both are important. Both improve flexibility. But they are not interchangeable.

As advocacy efforts continue across the country, understanding the distinction helps us have more productive conversations with colleagues, legislators, and healthcare leaders.

Save this post for future reference and share it with someone who has ever mixed up the two.
