One month left of ‘Unable to rest because unable to know’ currently showing in group show ‘language to reach with’ at West Space until 24 October. A young woman embarks on a pilgrimage and turns into a nonhuman figure.. Making this I was thinking a lot about doubt, bats and the figure of the spiralling mystic.

Unable to rest because unable to know, 2026
Victorian ash timber, wood stain, oil, 16:10 monitor, video (6 minutes), audio
933 x 931 x 130mm

Film Credits
Actress: Suyeon Park
Set Design/Production Assistance: Leena Luu & Jenn Tran
Narration: Hung Tran

Thank you to Suyeon Park, Leena Luu, Jenn Tran, Hung Tran, Antuong Nguyen for helping me bring the film to life, Nathan Collis for fabricating this install against time, Wen-Juenn Lee for writing a beautiful accompanying text and Tahmina Maskinyar for unlocking me again. Screening + dinner party by Jenn & Dane
Monday, September 14 • 7 PM - 9 PM

Invitation:
Inbetween the Global Catalogue: Australian Experimental Animation

The Australian footnotes of experimental animation are easily overlooked. Much has been acknowledged for the work of Len Lye (although New Zealand born, he worked extensively in Australia) but in the decades thereafter, many independent and experimental animation works have shared only a soft presence in the experimental animation lineage.

At Kartul, I am ecstatic to show you my program of the small treasures in Australian experimental animation. Experimental animation in Australia has changed so much since the 60s, arguably in step with technology, but more significantly, through seismic shifts in state and academic funding for work outside the industrial/commercial complex.

On Monday, 14th of September 2026, join me to view the works that sit in-between the global catalogue. To see the new, formative and legacy works spanning over 40 years from Australia.

This night will begin with a shared vegan dinner cooked by Jenn and Dane! Come hungry :)

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF RRR! Happy Radiothon! We are excited to hop on air 2-4am tonight on the Graveyard Shift playing only music from 1976, same year as the birth of our girl, RRR! We shrimply love Triple R.

RRR has always been at the centre of Naarm's independent music scene, giving an outlet for local creatives, the voiceless and freaks! This the biggest time of the year for funding RRR and without it they wouldn't be able to keep our airwaves interesting, local and RRReal! So if you like our show or want to support local music scene subscribe @ rrr.org.au :~))

Now to celebrate we're going to eat this pandan chiffon cake dane made :P

I'm back at PHIVE for some horseplay this LNY! 🐎 reoowwowow

Theres heaps to do and heaps not to do if you just want a space to kick back, eat random snacks and chill.

If you're feeling creative, make a whistle kite (diều sáo) with artist @jenn___tran inspired by ancient Vietnamese kite traditions and fly it out the Western Terrace.

If your goal this year was to learn something new, @teacraft_kt are back with their beloved tea tastings with some horse themed teas in the mix. Plus a special something something made by the Team's very own artist Lynn Sioson.

End the night with music by Sydney Sanshin Club's @haisaikaren supported by Kumiko Ho, playing Okinawan classical and folk songs.

And of course we will eat dinner, if you can fit it in after eating all the snacks...to celebrate the cultures part of the program we'll have vegan Vietnamese food, Filipino-Chinese food and Okinawan food.

See youse there, tickets at the link in bio <3 thank you Eleni for making this possible!

A great turnout last night at Things I Want to See and Things I Want to Show You XIII! Big thanks to everyone who came out last night, and bigger thanks to all the animators who allowed me to screen their incredible films. Thank you also to the legends at @newtowncommunity for providing an amazing space for the last four screenings.

I started running these screenings in my living room back in 2021 with just a handful of friends, and I'm so stoked with what they've become. While this was my last Wellington screening, I will certainly be continuing these once I get settled down in Australia. Keep an eye out here for updates, or shoot me a message and I'll add you to my mailing list.

Swipe to the end for the full program, or go to my website, where I've got all my programs archived with links to the films.
