Italy is a special place, worn in a way that only time can accomplish. No fake patina. We stuck mainly to places only Italians go to vacation, ordering only with hand signals and wondering if we were offending the local manners. The food is so good I returned bearing 20 more pounds than when we left.

It seemed only right to prepare weeks, maybe months ahead of our departure to Italy an engagement ring that I kept mightily a secret to most everyone, save a few close friends. Jenna didnt know and that was the goal since the start. I wanted it to be a surprise, and it was indeed. Well she said yes and now she is stuck with me for life.

Life with this woman has been easy from the start, even though we face challenges that sometimes feel bigger than either of us. We turn toward each other in lifes most difficult of times and I have always felt she has my back. If you know her, you know she is down for anything. Her humor is clever, her mind is sharp, talented at anything she tries. She works hard, but shes relaxed. Well read, and a sensitive human. An eye for style, and a great taste for movies, food, and art.

There isnt a manual which to draw from to tell you when is a good time to commit your life to someone. The past full of trial and errors. Full of mistakes you must learn from or dare repeat. I guess your heart will tell you when its a good time, the only hard part, listening. I believe in love and people and goodness of the world, I always have. Its a beautiful world out there. And I guess all I can say is I am glad to have found Jenna in some mysterious way, out in the world -- during, maybe, the most challenging time I have ever been through. But we found each other. And now we are here.

Did a trip last weekend up to Standish Hickey in Northern California with a crew from San Francisco and Santa Rosa. Matt was extremely kind to let me run his panhead all weekend and it didn’t skip a beat. Life in Los Angeles can get stifling and some time in the trees was needed. Thanks to everyone on the rip for welcoming me with open arms, and a very big thank you to Matt and Jenna for being great friends.
