𝚈̶𝚎̶𝚊̶𝚑̶,̶ ̶𝙽̶𝚊̶𝚑̶… Nah, YEAH.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
What a ripper! Having the opportunity to work on opening @deathandcompanyaus in Brisbane and Melbourne these last couple of months was literally like standing on the shoulders of giants. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Inspiring colleagues at every turn, teamwork near and far, discomfort, vulnerability, non-stop learning, the warmest hospitality, achievement, drop bears, a donkey named Dakota, and a little surprise and delight for good measure. It’s the first time, in a long time, I’ve laughed so hard and smiled so wide.
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Thank you @ginandluck @deathandcompany @benhehir and Australia Venue Co. for setting the pace and congratulations to @withcaradevine @s.a.s.h.gordon @sam_kat25 @punkrockballet (and their teams) for bringing these bars to life! ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
You’ll see some truly special people on this roll, to each of them: Cheers mates! Ciao for now - 🤝🏼.⁣⁣⁣⁣

It’s Day 16 and we are dreaming of Catherine Deneuve in the Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Gene Kelly in Singing In The Rain as we choose Death & Co.’s Parasol Dance cocktail for this Martini Advent Calendar post. Mixing Suntory Roku Gin, Absolute Elyx Vodka, Vermouth, Ume, Nori, Yuzu Bitters, this delightful spin on the Vesper is the perfect end of day drink.

Our team opened @deathandcompanyaus and all I got was quality time with the best in the business, incredible Aussie hospitality, endless inspiration from our friends at Australian Venue Co, 2-3x daily iced long blacks, countless Telegraph martinis, and the whirlwind work trip of a lifetime.

@ginandluck @deathandcompany Thanks to the entire team for bringing our first international bar(s!) to life🍸🤍🌐 Find us in Melbourne and Brisbane, now open.

Sam and Abby’s weekend wedding at Casa Cody in Palm Springs last weekend. An amazing venue with all events, pool party, welcome party, wedding, and post wedding brunch, all on Casa Cody grounds. What a charming place for a perfect wedding!

Last spring, I went down to Savannah, Georgia to check out @municipal_grand , a boutique hotel from the guys behind @deathandcompany . They’re trying to bring the 👐pizazz👐 back to a sector that’s been dulled by corporate conglomerates (intel via the inimitable @globetrotscott ) and I wrote about their quest for the October issue of @businessweek . The cherry on top: Spanish moss and a martini (okay, several martinis) with @vanraval . Link in bio🌳

T+L’s November issue drops this week so it seemed like the exact right time to post some September and October reporting. Always a treat to talk to the talented and kind people doing capital-h Hospitality and cool-ass things in hotels. That includes ofc @dkproprietors who just opened the first @deathandcompany hotel, nbd, and @ciosoler who invested in hard-hit designers during the pandemic and turned it into a hotel boutique that even locals want to visit.
