$Let’s talk bones. 🦴 Because osteoporosis isn’t just an “old lady problem.” Here are the facts every woman should know: 🦴 Bone loss accelerates around menopause. As oestrogen declines, bone breakdown increases — with a period of particularly rapid bone loss around the final menstrual period. 🦴 Osteoporosis can be completely silent. You can have low bone density without knowing it until you experience a fracture. 🦴 Your bones respond to loading. Progressive resistance training provides mechanical stimulus that can help maintain and improve bone mineral density. 🦴 The research is encouraging. A 2025 meta-analysis of 17 randomised controlled trials involving 690 postmenopausal women found that resistance training significantly improved bone mineral density at the lumbar spine, femoral neck and total hip. 🦴 Muscle matters too. Strength, balance and physical function can help reduce vulnerability to falls — a major contributor to fractures. 🦴 Walking is great, but it isn’t the whole picture. A well-rounded bone-health program can include weight-bearing activity, progressive strength training and balance/neuromuscular work. 🦴 Being lighter isn’t necessarily healthier for your bones. Low body weight is a recognised risk factor for osteoporosis. 🦴 Calcium isn’t the whole story. Bone health is influenced by mechanical loading, adequate nutrition, calcium, vitamin D, hormones, genetics, medications and overall health. 🦴 You don’t need to wait for a diagnosis to start. Building muscle, strength and physical capacity throughout adulthood is an investment in your future. Because we’re not training just for the body we have today. We’re training for the body we want to have for life. Strong enough to hike. Strong enough to lift your suitcase. Strong enough to get off the floor. Strong enough to stay independent. Strong for life. 💪 If you are ready to start training @thesherolife women’s only small group training programs are designed specifically for women and their needs. 50s plus classes start Oct 6th, 12pm Tue, Thur.
