2026 Filmmakers’ Workshop Spotlight!

During the first week of S&F’s Summer Season, the Filmmakers’ Workshop writers had their television pilots and feature-length screenplays read by Broadway and off-Broadway actors, after which they received feedback from leading industry writers and celebrated showrunners. In addition, the writers attended masterclasses, one-on-one feedback sessions with hand-matched mentors, and attended readings and workshop presentations for theatre-artists developing new stories who were also in-residence this season.

Diasporic Dualities 2026

There's nothing more I can say that hasn't already been said, except a sincere thank you to the Asian diaspora filmmakers who let me showcase their incredible films as part of my passion project at @fantasiafestival

I said this before and I'll say it again: Asian diaspora filmmakers are the best when it comes to genre cinema

Genre storytelling is truly the best way to express your identity, upbringing and culture

Can't wait to see where this journey goes for my fellow Diasporic Dualities filmmakers 🙌🙏

Some shorts I programmed for this year's 30th edition of @fantasiafestival have won some awards 🏆

I personally love these films as a fan, but I am genuinely proud they're getting the love and recognition they absolutely deserve

As a programmer for both Korean and Asian diaspora cinema, hard work truly does pay off, cause I still can't believe to this day I got to screen these outstanding films for my blocks

Congrats again to all the winners this year!!!

hi I’m Celine and I got to make a short film with my best friends and we got selected to pitch it as a feature film at this film market called Frontières (ty @taniasarah.m!) and we won an award (🫪) and I lost my voice and we got written up and we met a lot of cool talented new friends and our moms came to support and we premiered the film at this festival called Fantasia (ty @stevenshunlee 🥹) and our lead actress flew out to celebrate with us (@itmeolive 💕) and we made some people laugh and we made some people cry and we threw some sick fits and then Jerry got the shit slapped out of him.

As many of you know, Diasporic Dualities is a passion project I've been busy developing these past few months. What started out as an idea in my head last year eventually turned into something I was deeply passionate about. I was honestly so overwhelmed with the amazing response from the crowd.

I sincerely want to thank everyone who was at the screening yesterday, but more importantly I want to thank my Asian diaspora filmmakers for letting me showcase their inspiring and one-of-a-kind works at @fantasiafestival for my block.

I don't know what the third edition is gonna be like, but for now I just wanna cherish this unforgettable moment.

Fantasia! ⚰️🎀🩸After premiering @beautysleepfilm at @fantasiafestival one year ago, it has been a magical whirlwind week to be back there pitching the feature film Eternal Valley at the amazing Frontieres market. Words don’t sum up how incredible it has been. I miss it and the people already! The genre film community is one of a kind 💖 Not only was it awesome to share plans for our film with so many new people. The cherry on top was winning the Sitges award! And the lovely final way to end it was going back to watch the Born of Woman Fantasia short film block where Beauty Sleep started its journey. Thank you to everyone we met and for all of your generosity and encouragement. I can’t wait to see the other films who pitched get made! There are some real gems in there

What if the woman who raised you needed raising.
What if she were six.

Celine, Julien and Jerry’s short film RESET premieres tomorrow, July 28, at the 30th Fantasia International Film Festival in Montréal, in the International Short Film Competition.

In an alternate world, citizens who officially turn 65 go through a process called the RESET Program. It makes them six years old again. Riley’s mother has just been reset. Riley becomes her caretaker, while searching for the estranged father who left, so that he can serve as her mother’s legal guardian.
A daughter tracking down the man who walked out, so he can be the adult for the woman who raised her. Every role in that house has to be renegotiated. Who decides. Who protects. Who gets to be the child.

Directed by Celine Tien and Jerry Hsu. Produced by Julien Soros. From executive producers Lucy Liu and Branton Choi.

This week they also won an Outpost Special Mention post-production award at the Frontières International Co-Production Market, organized by Fantasia with the Marché du Film at Cannes. Two shorts in the entire market received one.

Sitting in that audience two days ago, proud, I thought: there is no RESET Program for the rest of us.
We don’t get to start over. We only get to keep growing. And I have to allow myself to.
Celine is teaching me. Again.
