Mas a melhor parte da semana continua a ser reencontrar tantos amigos e colegas de diferentes partes do mundo 🫶 To all the friends I got to see, can’t wait to keep organizing together and see you all again soon!! ❤️Até à próxima, Mamdanistan 👋

Last Friday a BlockTheMerger event sponsored by Free Press (not that one), the Committee for the First Amendment, and the Future Film Coalition was held at Club Cumming in Manhattan. That night FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez, anti-corruption attorney Gabriel Lezra spoke and the evening ended with a protest song by co-executive producer and writer of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s Matt Lappin.

Last week, the #BlocktheMerger coalition filed an amicus brief calling for the federal court to reject the dangerous Paramount-WBD mega-merger.

These deals demonstrate the urgent need to break up media conglomerates and prevent their billionaire owners from twisting U.S. our news and information to serve their authoritarian interests.

No matter the outcome, our coalition put up one hell of a fight - and Free Press will never stop fighting for a just media system.

Grateful for a community of friends, peers and colleagues who inspire me, teach me, and remind me why hope is worth holding onto ✨💌

This past week left me feeling truly rejuvenated. Between the discussions on financing climate action, new ways of thinking about our economies, and hearing about the scale of projects and investments now going toward climate work, it’s clear momentum is building again. So many people are doing incredible work pushing for climate justice, and it’s hard not to feel hopeful 🌍

Latest Read: 10mins after our NYC #BLOCKtheMERGER protest, @agrobbonta caved to Paramount in a pathetic, weak deal that gives oligarchs David and Larry Ellison new union busting and journalism-destroying tools... while betraying press freedom, art, labor, and democracy.

Read (🔗 in image) about the emotional whiplash of phenomenal organizing followed by deep betrayal, and why our coalition will continue to fight media consolidation as if democracy depends on it... because it does.

The Twelve state attorneys general that sued to block the Paramount–Warner Bros Discovery merger…those same 12 attorney generals GAVE UP.
⚡️
The settlement happened after California AG Rob Bonta caved.

This Merger will devastate the already torn up entertainment and news industry.

This merger should NEVER have proceeded this far, we have Anti-Monopoly laws in this country but it has been willfully and willingly ignored by our current Administration and at the behest of their billionaire backers.

I…am…furious and i will never stop advocating their breakup. Press freedom, consumer needs, and the creative economy demands that the Ellisons and their Saudi backers get thwarted.
