POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday was an amazingly inspiring day at @dutchdesignweek 💡📐🪑
So many creative ideas, playful designs and unexpected details to discover. I loved seeing how different makers bring their ideas to life, each in their own unique way.
And of course, I had to say hi to @aniekbartels and check out the wonderful work she presented together with @jes_iken and @meetmeatthewall.wallpaper ✏️
Here’s a little look at some of the things that caught my eye👀

Vleertje Muis has been doing quite a bit of flying at Dutch Design Week! ✨

I brought my @vleertjemuis books to @dutchdesignweek , and it makes me SO happy to see how many of you have taken one home over the past few days!

I also love bringing a little more kid-focused design to Dutch Design Week. Because why should all the good design be for grown-ups?
Illustration, colour, humour and thoughtful design can spark curiosity, fuel imagination and help little minds grow. And I think our youngest audience deserves a place at Dutch Design Week too!

And don’t worry, more Vleertje Muis books are already on their way to Eindhoven! Apparently, this little bat has a busy week ahead. 💜
You can find our team at @piet_hein_eek for the rest of the week, surrounded by @jes_iken’s beautiful furniture and @meetmeatthewall.wallpaper’s bold wallpaper! 🩷

What a start!! 🩷 @jes_iken , @meetmeatthewall.wallpaper and @aniekbartels joined forces as MAKE ROOM at @dutchdesignweek ! And what a lovely first few days it’s been!

Come explore our colourful little world, shop some illustrations, pick up wallpaper samples and see (and feel!) the furniture in real life.

And the good news? We’re not going anywhere just yet! (Well, apart from the occasional coffee break.)

You can find us at @piet_hein_eek in Eindhoven until Sunday, October 25!

We’d love to meet more curious minds, creative people, shops and brands. Who knows what we could dream up together?

Come say hi!✨

Something new is taking shape! ✨
For Dutch Design Week, the three of us, @jes_iken , @meetmeatthewall.wallpaper wall and illustrator @aniekbartels , are bringing our different worlds together in a new project: MAKE ROOM.

Together, we explore how design can influence the way children play, think and develop. By combining furniture, illustration, colour and interior design, we’re creating a space that encourages children to play, imagine and make it their own, while inviting grown-ups to see their surroundings from a child’s perspective.

You’ll find MAKE ROOM at @piet_hein_eek in Eindhoven during @dutchdesignweek Week.

Come find us, have a look around and make some room of your own. See you there!

* Design *

•• Lovely spot ••. With our son starting his final year of primary school next week, we started thinking about a lovely spot where he can study.

A place that is practical of course, but also beautiful and inspiring.

We fell in love with this beautiful desk by Jes Iken. I especially love its shape. The soft, flowing lines break up the straight lines of the room, while the desk makes clever use of the space.

It feels light and spacious, yet offers plenty of room for studying.

Functional, playful and beautifully designed.

And an extra little treat. Jes Iken is having a Summer Pre Sale this weekend.

Until Sunday, August 9, you’ll receive 10% off with the code PREORDER10, on orders from €250.

A lovely moment to choose something special for a kids’ room.

Which Jes Iken piece is your favourite?

Owls have such a calm way of looking at the world.
Even with those enormous eyes, they never seem rushed. Just quietly taking everything in.👀
I think that’s why I enjoy drawing them so much.

This owl watches over big ideas, bedtime stories and the kind of adventures that only happen once the lights go out.

Available as a 50 × 70 cm art print in my shop. 🦉

A child’s room is one of the very first places where imagination comes to life.✨
From the moment they open their eyes, children are already soaking up stories, from the illustrations on their walls to the books they’re read before bedtime.

Research suggests that thoughtfully designed spaces can nurture children’s curiosity, comfort and imaginative play. I love that something as simple as an illustration can become part of that world.🧡

One of my strongest childhood memories is the hand-embroidered ABC wall hanging my mum made for my room. It was completely unique, made especially for me and my sister, and somehow it’s one of the first things I think of when I picture my childhood bedroom.

That’s why it always makes me smile when my illustrations become part of a child’s room. In this room, they’ve found their way onto the @meetmeatthewall.wallpaper and into Een Kleintje Erbij, creating one little world together.

Maybe that’s the magic of a child’s room. The smallest details often become the biggest memories. 🤍

Een speelhoek met meubels gemaakt door @jes_iken , do I need to say more?

#baby #verjaardag #speelgoed #kinderkamer #babytoy
