Thrilled with how the table of contents in @leo_villareal : Coding Light turned out! Printed on the inner cover with a Swiss Binding construction, it kicks out while the book is open, acting as a beacon or wayfinding device that keeps you oriented through his entire body of work. Mid-Career Monograph for @leo_villareal_studio published by @phaidonpress (Formerly @monacellipress ). Rather than cherry-picking tropes from Leo’s immense body of work to replicate, we worked together closely to apply his artistic methodology to the form of the book itself. The monograph is Swiss bound with a metallic corduroy textile, screen printed with metallic puffer ink and the cover photo is CMYK printed on iridescent paper. Writing by @sarahszestudio , @mollydonovanyoung , and @annerd23 Typefaces: Aether B Mono by @ddott_type , Suisse Neue, and Suisse Mono by @swisstypefaces

@jessibrattengeier, Creative Director of @nytimes and Co-founder of @jessejessi_studio, crafts a standout identity for @hermanas__________, an ever-evolving community fostering supportive dialogue amongst women. The brand is led by a striking wordmark, which, with its blend of serif letterforms and jagged vowels, functions as both a symbol and a statement. Seeped in personality, the identity pulsates with the energy of the community, shifting and growing alongside it. Both a reflection of where Hermanas finds itself now and where it is headed, the resulting brand is elastic, expressive, and always in motion.

In the identity of @hermanas__________ – an ever-evolving community conceived with a sincere intention to foster supportive dialogues amongst women, both locally and globally – the type steals the show. Designed by @jessibrattengeier, Creative Director of @nytimes and Co-founder of @jessejessi_studio, the standout wordmark, with its blend of serif letterforms and jagged vowels, functions as both a symbol and a statement. “The client came to me with a really strong POV. They wanted the identity to feel energetic, edgy, disruptive,” @jessibrattengeier tells Mostly Graphic. “They knew their audience – women (or women-identifying) who are in their power. Who are adventurous and curious. Who co-create impact. Who are experimental by nature. So for me it felt only natural to create an identity that felt as energised and unapologetic as their community, and a wordmark that felt disruptive with the juxtaposed jagged interruptions of the vowels.” The snaggy letterforms both connect the mark and convey the independent nature of Hermana’s members. Coupled with tasteful art direction – where images are layered on top of one another to find new meaning – the identity is crafted to effortlessly shift and grow alongside the community, holding a mirror to its evolving spirit and the plurality of voices within it.

By @jessejessi_studio At first glance, it is the typography in Studio Marie’s identity that stands out. With sinuous curves, distinctive details and strong letterforms, the type brings the flavour and the craft to the branding. When design studio JesseJessi began working on the identity, the creative process was steered by the conversations the team had with Jamie Perez, founder of the interior design practice Studio Marie. Keep reading and find out more at our link in bio. ——— CREDITS Graphic Design: @jessejessi_studio Typography: Söhne by @klim_type_foundry and Milla by @vividehning Wordmarks and Design Support: @vividehning
