This Halloween, @thetasteoftalent, @redcurtainaddict and @gracecathedral summon DEATH BY ARIA, transforming one of San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks into the haunted cathedral.

At the heart of the night is the medieval Dies Irae, the ancient Song of Death, evoking the Day of Judgment and the terrifying final reckoning of the dead. From there, each artist offers their own song of death, moving through opera, tango, cinema, aerial spectacle and instrumental virtuosity.

Presiding as Gandalf the White, music director and master of ceremonies @rmgpiano guides the evening through a world of music, death and the unexpected. Enter the haunted cathedral! 💀🎃

Seeing our names on a @metopera album cover is surreal. I’ve said it at each big step of the epic journey of this show, and I’ll say it again now… I am SO proud of us!

Some favorite portraits so far from Carmel Bach Festival ‘26. The emotional pendulum is swinging intensely this year—immeasurable loss with the passing of beautiful Gabrielle Wunsch yesterday. In the same timeline, we have the miracle of our little Willow and her wonderful grandparents to share this beloved place with us. Big feelings, no proper words. Life is precious.

Broadway got its claws! 😻 @catsjellicleball
is decadent, dangerous, queer as hell, and fully slathered in ballroom culture. Every performer stalks that stage like they own nine lives and a tab at Studio 54. Feral glamour, voguing felines, velvet chaos! This isn’t just theater, it’s a full-blown catfight for the crown. 👑

We had a blast celebrating our concertmaster of nearly 30 years, Joe Edelberg, during our Shakespeare in Music Classical Series performances. The entire weekend felt like a true celebration of Joe’s incredible legacy, and we are deeply grateful for everything he has given the Symphony over the past 29 years.

As you swipe through this carousel, you’ll see just how much he is loved and appreciated by his fellow musicians, staff, and our community—from heartfelt tributes and surprise musical moments to standing ovations that said it all.

Highlights include:
1. A compilation video from the weekend
2. A proclamation honoring Joe from the City of Santa Rosa
3. Santa Rosa Mayor Mark Stapp presenting the proclamation
4. President & CEO Andrew Bradford at our post-concert champagne and cupcake celebration
5. A surprise musical tribute for Joe, including a personalized ditty by Principal Trombone Bruce Chrisp (video courtesy of @staceypelinka )
6. A performance by SRS English Horn player Jesse Barrett, joined by Symphony musicians (video courtesy of Stacey)
7. A raucous ovation for Joe, courtesy of @sfclassicalvoice

Thank you, Joe, for nearly three decades of artistry, leadership, and heart.
