Part 2 An intimate reading for my family and friends was organised to celebrate the launch of my memoir, The Cost of a Promised Afterlife, published by @simonandschusterin . It was a beautiful evening, surrounded by the love and safety of my community here in Amsterdam. It feels surreal, no doubt, but also like a bird being set free from its cage. I have dreamed of this feeling for a very, very long time. My deepest thanks to the two most important collaborators that brought this book to life. @_ushinor, for your time and mentoring, and @eliofkottayam for offering to publish. A heartfelt thanks to @bar.bario for so generously opening your inclusive space for us to host this special moment. And shoutout to @kweserrell and @einkarl for bringing vibes to the house. I feel so loved, honored and grateful. Thank you to each and everyone of you for joining me in the celebration xx

We rise | We resist | We remember| We reclaim | We honor | We respect This is a call for action for respecting rights of Indigenous peoples and local communities. A hommage to our ancestors while building the movement for our future children. It's where joy, bravery, spirituality, research, education, art and community meet each other Indigenous Liberation Movement is a collective of various individuals, organizations and partners. We care for Mother Earth. We defend all life, while endorsing climate justice, learning how to support regeneration/ decolonization processes. We are guided by a roadmap stipulated by the movement some years ago. We work intergenerational together with Indigenous diaspora, local communities and allies from all over the world. Together we learn to enter a century of Indigenous Liberation. Guided by principles and values of our cosmovision. We share and embody the art of reciprocity as much as we can. Join this movement to empower the uprising of all Earth Defenders, wisdom keepers and allies of the next generations. --------- The logo for Indigenous Liberation Movement is a powerful symbol of unity and solidarity. At the heart of this emblematic design lies a seashell, an ancient symbol of protection and wisdom. This shell symbolizes the beating heart of the Indigenous communities, ever-present and providing protection to its people. It's also the reminder of our call to action. In many communities there is a shell or an instrument that unites all when community support is needed. It calls for us to unite. Within the shell, we find a feather, delicate and majestic, gracefully drifting in the wind. This feather represents the wisdom of our ancestors, scattered across the winds, who honor the power of nature and our spiritual connection Together, the shell and the feather form a harmonious whole, a fusion of tradition, reverence for nature, and a profound sense of community. logo design: @globalcreativenetwork @jeroen_sikkema #IndigenousLiberationMovement #decolonization #community #art #cocreation #education #participation #Indigenouspeoples #firstnations #diaspora #climatejustice #MMIW #IndigenousLivesmatter #Marichiweu

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿. We need people to care, to share, to connect, and to join our movement. Spread the message and mission of Treesistance to your brothers, sisters, that one quiet kid in your class, your secret love, your aunt, that teacher you wish was your dad, that kind cashier, your boss, the mailman, your friend who kinda gave up and your niece who is still full of hope. Have a talk with a stranger about how you hope the world will be like in 20 years, and invite them to become part of our movement. Treesistance has officially launched 🌳🌳🌳 With a warm welcome with an introduction by Dr. Tim Boekhout van Solinge , @dadaborari , @jessevanthull and @tomdetomtomtom last June 22nd on @worldrainforestday , we've joined the fight against illegal deforestation outside the forest 🌍🌎🌏 Will you join too? In the past months, I've had the pleasure to be in the team with wonderful, talented people. In every brainstorm, there is lightning ⚡ Here's to many more adventures to come! @treesistance is a movement and an impact blueprint centered on the protection of primary forests in the Amazon. Its approach is Indigenous-led and backed by science. We focus preventing forest crime by training, equipping, and helping local communities protect their lands. You can catch a glimpse of the Treesistance movement in the film by @lea.hejn Curupira: Mother of the Forest (for free) on @waterbearnetwork ! 🌿 Follow @dadaborari for a deeper look of the forest and life of forest guardians on the frontline. Last week, we made thunder and lightning. On World Rainforest Day, June 22, Treesistance was officially launched 🌎🌳 In both an event at @maca.amsterdam and livestream via the @worldrainforestday platform, Treesistance was given a powerful introduction by its founders Tom Wheeler, Dr. Tim Boekhout van Solinge and Chief Dadá Borarí, leader of the Maro Indigenous Territory. We also watched Lea Hejn's film "Curupira: Mother of the Forest"; 🎞️featuring Dadá and various other voices of the Borarí people, which took us deep and quick into the magic of nature and wonders of the the Amazon forest (available now on @waterbearnetwork ). Prior to the launch, Treesistance has been widely supported by partners such as @wildeganzen @ridecake @wefuturefglobal @pubity @vxanimation @goalzero @greenchoicenl and @wkamsterdam . Thank you all for giving Treesistance and the team such a warm welcome, and we look forward to fighting for a fairer, better and greener world together. You'll be hearing more from us soon 🌱 Remember that you don't have to be in the forest to join the fight 💪🏼 Join the fight of the decade. Join the Treesistance!
