Extra! Extra! Extra! 🗞️ This stack represents most of the newspapers that I’ve designed over the last 3.5 years. Since founding my consultancy, BakerSanchez, Inc., I really wanted to tap into this space and become known for bringing a stylish flair to newsprint. Each of these publications has been part of a worldbuilding process with my clients. Some as inaugural issues, some as product promos, some as part of larger branding initiatives, all tell meaningful stories, all are newsprint, all are worldbuilding. I’m grateful to have worked on these beautiful titles over the years and to have made such incredible friendships as a result! 💖 Speaking of newsprint, I’ll be joining @newspaperclub tonight at 7pm at @secret_riso_club in Brooklyn! I’ll be chatting about all things print with @susannahayward, @laurafeinstein, and @kaye_symington. Hope to see you there! 🗞️ If you’re building something that needs this kind of care (a brand, a publication, a world of its own), that’s exactly the work I do. I’d love to hear about it. Reach out, or drop a note in the comments. Let’s create something beautiful. ✨ Building a world of your own? Welcome to Studio Notes 📝 A new journal where I share how I think: the process behind the work, and how I build worlds for the brands and stories I touch. Issue No. 01 is about worldbuilding: what it means to me as both an editor and a creative director, and why, for me, writing and design are inseparable. Every project I take on starts the same way, with four questions I call the 4 Cs: → Compelling > Why does this matter, and to whom?
→ Collaboration > Who helps shape it?
→ Cultural resonance > Why this, why now?
→ Creative solution > How does it come to life visually? It’s the framework behind DONE The Magazine, where I get to tell the stories of people quietly and loudly building their own empires; and it’s the same process I bring to the commercial and editorial brands I collaborate with. Worldbuilding isn’t just design, and it isn’t just words. It’s the two, inseparable, in service of a story worth telling. If you’re building something that needs this kind of care (a brand, a publication, a world of its own), that’s exactly the work I do. I’d love to hear about it. So fun working with a spectacular group of soon-to-be CTR instructors ✨ From NYC to Westchester, The Shops at Riverside — and even La Jolla — the energy, heart, and commitment from everyone was unreal. CTR continues to grow because of people like this. So grateful to be building it together and can’t wait to take your CTR classes soon.
