Gellatly is the best thing that’s ever happened to me

Words can’t explain how much this organization means to me. Fish Camp found me at the time I needed it most. I was going through some of the worst times of my life. I was in the middle of my friend group collapsing, a breakup, getting the flu and a concussion all in the span of about a week. I found out I was chosen to be a counselor in the middle of my concussion recovery, at a point where I was only able to stay awake for 3 hours at a time, sit in the complete darkness, and could only tolerate people talking to me if they whispered. I wasn’t allowed to be on my phone and the very little time I was, I only used to check my email to see if decisions were out yet. It just goes to prove that the best things are always right around the corner. So many freshmen have thanked us for “sacrificing” our summer, but for me it was never a sacrifice, it was just the best summer of my life. I could not be more grateful to have had this opportunity to impact so many people and share the love I have for this group and this amazing school. What’s a home without a family? To Pemma, thank you for always believing in me and leading the way. To my other 23 perfect counselors, thank you for being my best friends. I couldn’t imagine doing this with any other group. How lucky am I to have people that make it so hard to say goodbye. Until next year lakeview
