🏠 New “HOUSE” is in Detroit! Who or what feels like home to you? Teens at Jessie Feliz Learning Center came together to create this HOUSE—not simply as a structure, but as a reflection of what makes us feel safe, connected, and at home. The walls were created using denim jeans that belonged to a beloved community member who has passed away. By giving this meaningful material a new form, his memory becomes part of a space built by the next generation. A house can be made of walls, but a home is made of people, memories, and the sense that we belong. 💙 Created with teens at Jessie Feliz Learning Center A CAFE community art project #CommunityArt #DetroitArt #DetroitYouth #YouthArt #CommunityBuilding #Belonging #CommunityArtForEveryone #CAFE #Detroit

They may see a clothing brand. We see something much bigger. We believe being creative is dope. Being athletic is dope. Having style is dope. But being intelligent, financially literate, disciplined and confident in what you know is dope too. We want the next generation to know they don’t have to choose. You can be an athlete and understand money. You can be fashionable and intelligent. You can be a creative and a leader. You can have the sauce and have substance. That’s TakeUsHome™. And because people continue to support the clothing, we were blessed to put more Financial Literacy Workbooks into the hands of kids. Thank you to everybody who has supported us. We’re not just trying to leave them something to wear. We’re trying to leave them something to build with. For the ones coming after us. TAKEUSHOME™

They didn’t just watch the show. They became the show. Every kid created their own piece, stepped onto the runway, and experienced what it feels like to bring an idea to life. Confidence can’t be taught from a book it has to be lived. Then we had one more surprise. After the kids walked in their own creations, these two stepped onto the runway and showed them what it looks like at the next level. They didn’t just model clothes they modeled confidence, presence, and professionalism. Sometimes all it takes is seeing what’s possible to believe it’s possible for yourself. This is bigger than fashion. It’s about planting seeds, building confidence, and creating moments these kids will never forget. TakeUsHome. La Familia. 🦋

This time, I didn’t design the shirt—I placed the tools in the kids’ hands and allowed them to create it together. 🎨 One shirt. Different ideas. Different colors. One shared vision. At the Jessie Feliz Learning Center & Summer Camp, the kids used paint and spray paint to turn a blank shirt into something completely their own. Watching them contribute, experiment, and trust their creativity made the moment bigger than the finished piece. The music tells the deeper story: God’s plan, the reality of how many brothers have fallen victim to the streets, the belief that we can build something great, and the happiness our children deserve to experience. Sometimes impact isn’t about showing children what you can create. It’s about giving them the tools, the space, and the confidence to discover what they can create together. We didn’t just make a shirt. We created a memory, built confidence, and showed them that their ideas have value. This is TakeUsHome™. 🏠 #TakeUsHome #JessieFelizLearningCenter #YouthCreativity #SummerCamp #CreativeEducation BuildingTheFuture

Six years ago, Detroit Means Business set out to make it easier for entrepreneurs to start, grow, and invest in their businesses. Along the way, it became something even bigger. It became a trusted partner to thousands of business owners and a community built around the belief that when Detroit's small businesses succeed, our city grows stronger. ㅤ As of June 30, the Detroit Means Business name has officially retired. The work that so many of you know and trust has not. Business owners will continue to find the guidance, funding opportunities, and support they need through the programs that have always been at the heart of this mission. ㅤ To every entrepreneur who took a chance on an idea, every business owner who invited us into your story, and every partner who helped strengthen Detroit's small business community, thank you. Your ambition, resilience, and belief in this city shaped Detroit Means Business into far more than a program ever could. ㅤ The next chapter is already underway, and we hope you'll keep growing with us. Follow along to stay connected with @motorcitymatch, Detroit Legacy Business Project, Detroit Startup Fund, Capital Hub, and the many other resources working every day to help Detroit businesses thrive. ㅤ Detroit still means business, and we're honored to keep doing the work alongside you.
