If you know me, you know Snatches and I have NEVER exactly been best friends. 😂

Since Nationals in March, I haven’t been able to get more than 50kg overhead. And honestly? That started messing with my head.

But today, I stopped questioning it.

I stepped up, committed, and hit 55kg/121lbs.💥

HOLY. CRAP.

We all have bad days. We all have days where the weight feels heavier, the confidence disappears, and you start wondering if you’ve still got it.

Today reminded me: I DO.

The strength didn’t disappear. The confidence did.

And now it’s back. 🔥

Snatches… looks like we’ve got some unfinished business. 😈💪

Thank you @anna_wtcoach for always pushing me because you know I can do it.

Thank you @jgunn_pt for keeping this old body going. Funny I didn't believe you when you said I'd Snatch heavy today. Well, I guess you were right. I won't doubt you again. Lol.

Shoutout to my PT @jgunn_pt (and also @graceparker.dpt for volunteering as tribute to help us troubleshoot this) at @onwardkansascity for always coming up with practical solutions to the various aches and pains I get from jiu-jitsu. He's helped me not only continue doing what I love pain-free, but helped me progress in my strength and mobility so I have an even better baseline than before. 🤘

Still chasing answers after an MRI?

If you’ve been told “surgery is next,” “just live with it,” or your MRI findings don’t seem to match how you actually feel, it may be time for a different approach.

At Onward Physical Therapy, we combine movement analysis, strength testing, and a comprehensive evaluation to understand what’s actually driving your symptoms, not just what showed up on a scan.

Pain has a story. We believe yours is worth listening to. More importantly, we believe it’s worth understanding well. Our goal isn’t just to explain what hurts, it’s to uncover why it hurts and build a plan that gets you back to doing the things that matter most.

Whether your goal is to pick up your kids without pain, train for your next race, compete at a high level in the gym, or simply move through life with confidence again, we’re here to help.

Book your evaluation through the link in our bio or send us a DM. Let’s build a plan to help you chase your goals not your MRI findings!

Strong clinicians don’t just talk performance, they live it.

This past weekend, our very own Dr. Jacob Gunn, PT, DPT stepped onto the platform at the Sunflower State Games at Strong Barbell Club, and we couldn’t be more proud. As a clinician who specializes in helping powerlifters perform at their best, Jacob doesn’t just treat and coach clients through the process, he lives it alongside the same strength community he serves.

Having a provider who understands what it’s like to train hard, compete, and push your limits means our clients get so much more than rehab. They get a clinician who truly understands the demands of performance and how to help you Hurt Less & Get Hurt Less while continuing to do what you love in the gym.

Great job this weekend, Jacob!

I did pull-ups today...for the first time in at least 6 months.

I tweaked a trap/neck muscle awhile back and was seeing a PT to work on it. Shout out to @jgunn_pt !

Anyhoo, with time, and exercises, and REST, I'm making my way back.

So today I tried pull-ups again. I scaled from sets of 10 to 5, and realizing quickly sets of 2-3 was where I was at for now.

In the middle of the workout, I look over and Matt (pictured here) was ALSO fighting for his life on pull-ups but doing a way better job at it than I was 🤣.

We locked eyes and gave each other the familiar "I won't quit if you don't" look.

And we survived together.

That's why I love my gym peeps 💪

(P.S. I did a total of 45 today. I'll take it!)

A recap of Murph 2026 with the @workethic.kc community

No shortcuts. No easy reps. Just a community showing up and holding the standard to honor the meaning behind every mile, pull up, push up and squat.

We’re grateful to train alongside a community who chooses discipline, effort and accountability.

Until next year 💪

Thank you SO much to Dr Jacob Gunn and Dr Grace Parker from @onwardkansascity for putting on an awesome low back workshop for us today! 🙏🙏🙏

Jacob is my PT and has helped me through SO many injuries, small and large, and empowered me to not only continue to do what I love to do, but do it better than before.
