Longfellow Barrio Fiesta celebration for Filipino American History Month at Longfellow Auditorium, Longfellow Elementary School in San Francisco. 🇵🇭🎉 (10/20/2026)

Even though I do not have a kid studying here this school year, I came out to support our community.

Madison will be starting TK next school year and I’m not ready. Lol. 😁

This is what bayanihan looks like, the Filipino spirit of communal unity and cooperation. It is rooted in kapwa, the shared self that connects all of us. 💪🏼

Thankful to be part of this community and helping each other.

Movie night watching Forgotten Island with our Longfellow WLES school community. 🍿🎬

We joined our fellow Longfellow WLES families at Century Theatres in Daly City for a special movie night. Just in time for Filipino American History Month. 🇵🇭🇺🇸

The film follows Filipino best friends Jo and Raissa, voiced by H.E.R. and Liza Soberano, on their adventure across the mystical, folklore-inspired island of Nakali.

Thank you to director Joel Crawford @joel.crawford.art and Filipino-American director Januel Mercado @janimatedultd for creating this movie and bringing Filipino folklore and culture to the big screen for our community.

I’m so grateful for our school community gathering together to celebrate Filipino culture and heritage.

What is the purpose of continuing my political journey? To fight? What would my ancestors do in this moment? What would young people, working-class families, and immigrants in our communities—those fighting for a future that can feel out of reach, want in their leaders? What legacy do I want to leave for future generations? In the midst of the chaos of our world and the struggles of everyday life, I keep returning to one question: Why run again?
It is not for fame, clout, titles, or money. It is for the fight for a future where people feel seen, humanized, and dignified—a future that is hopeful, loving, and purposeful. I am running for re-election to the Daly City Council because this journey is a commitment to critical hope, to a better future, and to those who came before me and those who will follow. I am committed to serving the people, fighting for affordability, and building a Daly City where local action can help shape our national future. With your support, let us “RISE with Rod” in my pursuit of re-election to the Daly City Council in 2026.

Overall a JOY to witness the youth step up to challenge themselves this way and come out injury free and with no regrets on taking the risk. An exhilarating (nerve wracking!) experience for the adults tho 😅 nonetheless worth it, right? 😉 Everyone did amazing and almost all had opponents with more comp experience than them which made it even more exciting and rewarding to see their grit and resilience shine through in their matches. Back to work next wk to continue cultivating our growth as a team.

Congratulations everyone! ❤️
