@jillmoffatt has blown me away, yet again! Her take on @sydney_sweeney ‘s stupid sports ad is quite insightful.

Yes, Sweeney is obviously getting richer knowing not only her audience but savvy business sense with an equity share in the betting platform. However, Jill hit the mark - women’s sports has been an uphill battle for not only equity and attention but, in the beginning, even a chance at participating.

Let’s focus on the power, dedication, and perseverance women have put in over the last century and a little less on women seeming to garner more attention if they do things naked. I get it - sex sells - but, can we just appreciate women doing hard things?

Here’s a compilation of my daughter and I committing to hard things.

Jill, thanks for the inspirational template!!!

On Saturday, MOMentum had the opportunity to join an important conversation at the CSI Pacific Sport Science Summit on supporting athletes through family planning.

Our co-founder, Olympian and PhD student Jill Moffatt, was joined by Olympic athlete and mom Briana Scott and researcher Dr. Andrea Bundon to discuss the realities of navigating high-performance sport alongside family planning, pregnancy, and parenthood.

Briana shared her experience of returning to elite sport after the birth of her first child before earning a spot on Canada's national team, as well as how her journey has differed after welcoming her second son following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Together, we explored how lived experience, research, and advocacy can help shape a more supportive sport system.

Some of the key messages from our discussion:

➡️ Every pregnancy, birth, and return to sport is unique.

➡️ Athletes need support throughout their entire careers, from family planning to pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond .

➡️ We must continue challenging assumptions around age, who can become a mother, and what a successful return to sport looks like .

➡️ Creating family-friendly high-performance sport also requires supporting coaches, practitioners, and staff with caregiving responsibilities.

At MOMentum, we believe athletes should never have to choose between pursuing excellence in sport and building the family they want. While progress is being made, there is still important work ahead, and conversations like these help move us closer to meaningful change.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked thoughtful questions, and continues to champion a more inclusive future for Canadian high-performance sport!

Pregnancy, motherhood, and high-performance sport deserve more space in the conversation.

We’re excited to welcome Jill Moffatt (She/Her), OLY, 2x Olympian, PhD Student, and Co-Founder of MOMentum, to the Sport Science Summit 2026.

Jill will present “Pregnancy and Motherhood in Sport,” sharing insight into how sport systems can better support athletes through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition into motherhood.

The Summit will also feature the Young Hour of Power, where early career researchers, students, and practitioners will each have 5 minutes to present a topic of their choice, followed by a panel discussion with all speakers.

Just finishing a quick 5 days in Victoria to help my Boy Mat and Kayla move into their new place. Was lamenting that I would miss my "on-water" rowing sessions while out here. Messaged Gorge Narrows Rowing Club to see if I could row as a quest before I left. They welcomed me with open arms. Rachel was incredible, offering me access to many sessions, ended up rowing in quad on day 1, day 2: double with Doug and today it was an eight - 3 incredible days of rowing for me. The coaching provided by Mirijn and Noah was invaluable, offering up timely cues that helped me immensely...so great!

Shared with the group, how grateful I was and how lucky they are...Mary-Lou asked me to elaborate why I thought that. The community and culture, the incredible coaching offered every session (paid coaches allows for this) and the water/surroundings-just stunning...get to row on flat water year round. Incredible!! I love the insights I am taking away...Thanks for welcoming me and making me feel right at home! #rowing #lifeisgood #victoria
