Okay I had to hop on this trend…. I would’ve never thought when I went to @westernuniversity that I’d try out for a novice rowing team, and I definitely never thought this new sport would end up taking me to TWO Olympics with @jenny_joan_casson 😭

Throw in some lifelong best friends, a husband, international travel and a love for gelato, and I’d say it was a good choice 👌🩷

Last one, fastest one! Today we’ll be racing the champ W8+ at 2:25. If this is my last race rowing for a while, then I couldn’t pick a better way to go out than with all the girls. 🏁🏎️💨

First day of school vibes 📚👩‍🏫

I’m really excited to start my PhD at Laurentian University (albeit remotely). I’m taking the multicultural physical activity and sport stream in Human Kinetics, where I’ll be focusing on elite athlete motherhood. I’m really excited to have Dr. Kerry McGannon as my supervisor, and I’m beyond thankful to Amanda (@lu_rowing ) for encouraging me to take this leap and helping me get everything sorted.

Hopefully I’ll be able to use my education to contribute back to the sport system through research and advocacy. I never saw myself wanting to stay in sport on a professional level, but these past few years have shown me that there is so much work to be done in order to achieve gender equity for women and girls. I’d like to be part of the solution so here we go! by @jillmoffatt

Ran as fast as I could to get home to little Stuart!! Third marathon in the bank, and a sneaky 2 min pb 💁🏼‍♀️ and shout out to @caileighfilmer for the surprise cheering and an even better sign 😏

Back where it all began 🥹💜

Had the most wonderful time with old friends (and new!!) celebrating @volker.nolte and his induction into the Western Mustangs Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the incredible Lesley Thompson Willie on her lifetime achievement award. To top it off the most generous person I’ve ever met @hbcartwright05 was recognized for her endless support and philanthropy!

I may have felt 80 years old as I watched 18 year olds get their fake ids turned down in line at Barney’s, but it also feels just like yesterday we were them 🥲

Had to jump all over this trend 🙃

So many thoughts about this stupid ad, and I actually think @jcubedhax has one of the best takes on it so I recommend checking out her video on the reality of sports betting, and the ways these companies get around restrictions (and how harmful it is).

In some ways, what she’s done is strategic (not an endorsement but a reality). As a new investor in this company, she’s brought them into the news cycle and has gotten the attention of the audience they want to attract (men). The result of all of this is that she’s likely richer because of it, and has benefited other investors in the company. It’s kind of like taking candy from a baby… show yourself half naked and get the attention of the consumers you want.

But WHYYYYYYYY. I get it’s a sports betting platform but read the room. Women’s sport has fought for respect in the media since its inception, and we are finally beginning to see sportswomen less sexualized. This isn’t to say athletes shouldn’t embrace their sexuality, femininity, etc., and she’s not pretending to be an athlete, but jesus did we really need her saying sports 50x while naked? And no, this isn’t the same as the ESPN Body Issue… which also has had its own critiques by feminist scholars so f right off.

Big Lonely Doug!! And a bit of exploring with Dave and Stuart🌲

Big Lonely Doug is the second (!!) largest Douglas fir in Canada, and only remains thanks to a logger who saved it before the area got clear cut. It’s insane that clear cutting areas like this is still legal, and when you walk by some of the massive stumps it’s incomprehensible that anyone would ever want to remove 1000 year old trees.

Very grateful for the @ancientforestalliance and their advocacy to keep old growth in BC protected 🫶

Also for the millionth time - we are so lucky to live here!!
