Give a warm welcome to our new baby boy, Lawrence! This is such a surreal experience to finally be a dad! I’m still amazed at how strong my wife was throughout the whole miracle of a process! Lawrence was 7lbs 2oz and is healthy, hungry, and sleepy! We just brought him home so he’s adjusting. I can’t be thankful enough to our friends and family who were so supportive! Thank you for all of your gifts, words of encouragement, and most of all, your prayers. Lawrence is a huge answer to all of our prayers! God is good!!!

A study on one of Austin Briggs’ sketches.

Someone suggested I study Austin Briggs, so I’m studying Austin Briggs. I think it’s a great way to simplify my sketches while focusing on getting the point of my interpretation of the subject across. I like the way Austin accentuated certain parts using line weight, as well as well as simple shading to further break down the subject.

Figure drawing 2/3 for something. Started by making a basic skeleton and put more detail in the legs to bring focus to them. Reference photo of @_camillamancuso_

So I realized I never posted a book cover I illustrated. The author wanted a somewhat messy look, so I did a large charcoal drawing using some really bad reference photos he sent me. I did two different versions and he picked this one. I’ve been working on another cover illustration for his next book. Keep me in your prayers!

Watercolor painting of a kid on her bike. I love the polaroid look with hard light and offset shadows, and how the light washes out certain parts while accentuating others. It captures the bare essence of the subject while invoking a sense of looking back at old memories. I love it.

“Aristocrat”
Little by little what I paint and draw seems to be morphing. I’ve always enjoyed surrealism and might continue to do more of it.

There’s a lot of meaning in this piece, but I’d like for you to enjoy and interpret for yourself what this it means to you. Thanks @art_of_terryvanatta for helping me form this idea.

A lot of things have changed since then.
