Highlights from my chaotic and lovely life

CABIN CREW! The 6 of us spent three days out at a cabin very far off the beaten path. Surrounded by mountains and beauty. We worked on the property: chopping wood, cutting grass, and digging a new outhouse. We rowed a boat to the other side of the lake. Explored game trails through the wilderness. Stayed up late sweating in the sauna. And were completely off grid the entire time. Today, half of this crew will be boarding a plane back to the lower 48, back to reality. The other half of us are getting ready to hunker down for the winter in Alaska. For me, I've got a bit more exploring to do before I really settle into my new home. It's always bittersweet saying goodbye, but we've all got big dreams and lives to live. I'll definitely cherish these moments forever.

That's a wrap on the summer of 2026. Three and a half months ago I hopped on a jet to a tiny town in the middle of absolutely nowhere, where I had no connections and no idea what was in store for me. But, from day 1 I felt like I had known my coworkers for my entire life. We got along so well, we shared many laughs, dinners, and even some tears. The work days were long, but that didn't stop us from staying up late playing cards and joking around. In between working and hanging out, I got to ride in float planes to some very remote places. I saw soo much wildlife and got to do some exploring in the mountains. Something about being here felt very natural. So natural that I am now interwoven into the company. I'll be wintering with one of the pilots and I left a box of my things behind for me to retrieve next summer when I come back for a second year. I'm currently in Anchorage, waiting to board another flight on the float plane to take a few of us to a remote cabin for a few days. One last hoorah with some of my favorite people. I'm booked and busy for the rest of this month, but I'm very much looking forward to retreating to my new winter home.

Here's to 33! 🎉 My community threw me a party and it did not disappoint. My only request was to have a photo wall and I'm soo glad they made my vision a reality. And honestly, it was even better than I expected. Everybody brought a prop which added even more whimsy to the whole experience. I feel so loved by these people and am beyond thankful for this season with them. We all had dinner, ate cheesecake, and got some dancing in. According to the Magic 8 Ball, this is going to be an amazing year! Also, just so you know, age is just a number and you're never too old to play dress up and have a photoshoot with your friends.
