For the last six months, a few of us at JTN Music have been pouring our hearts and hard work into post production, on Music Supervision and Music Editorial, on the Feature Film “An Ode to Mary Jo”. 🎬🎥🎼

It’s been an absolute joy to work on this lovely, important, poignant, music heavy indie feature film, written and directed by Justin Liberman. It holds a star studded cast, between Ed Helms, Rhiannon Giddens, Steve Earle and many more. With so many amazing sync placements and musical contributions, if I do say so myself 💁🏽‍♀️

We’re all very excited and hopeful for where this project will go. We at JTN Music, the production team, cast and crew, and everyone involved, are all very excited to get Mary Jo’s story into the world. As it’s been a next level, collaborative process.

Working alongside Director Justin, and all the amazing producers has been wonderful. Special shout outs to Reuben, Mike, Matt, and Brenton. As well as all the amazing musicians who’ve collaborated in the process. Including my dear friend of over 20 years over there in Nashville, @chadjeffers who laid down some dobro tracks for the film 🤩 this was extra* special for me.

One of the best parts for me personally, was working alongside Pulitzer Prize winning composer @_michaelabels, he is a delight, and his score is absolutely beautiful (as per usual).

It’s been an honour for us at JTN, working with all these beautiful people. 🫶🏼 Filmmaking truly takes a village.

Living paycheck-to-paycheck has become the American Way - a way filmmaker @jmliberman explores in his upcoming feature, An Ode to Mary Jo.

The film, co-written with Erik Christian Hanson, stars @rhiannongiddens as the titular character, a woman on the brink of a more stable future - if she can get to the job interview on time. @steveearle, @edhelms, and @jasonisbell co-star. @nonesuchrecords will be releasing the soundtrack.

Liberman and I recently met to discuss the movie's origins, his untraditional past, and why he's reclaiming Americana from the right.

Looking back on some footage from 2024 for Charles Wesley Godwin and some of the beautiful long takes that were directed and blocked out. Sometimes prepping and taking away some light is all that’s needed!
