🫀 WE’RE BUILDING SOMETHING NEW AND NICHE AT JMU. 🫀

Introducing the JMU Cardiovascular Sciences Club!

Our goal is to create a community for students interested in the cardiovascular field and give members opportunities to learn about cardiology, cardiac surgery, perfusion, anesthesia, critical care, research, and more.

We’re hoping to bring in healthcare professionals, host educational events, explore different career paths, and create opportunities for students to connect with others who share the same interests.

We’re currently looking for students to help us build the club from the ground up this semester so feel free to reach out! 🫀

Interested? Fill out our interest form here: https://forms.gle/uywVCQijT5iCpxP49 or from the link in our bio!

Who said strapping with Elastoplast was hard?

We pinned Josh, one of our best physio interns, against our very own #1 Jacob Msando in an @elastoplastanz strapping challenge.

Best strapped ankle in the least amount of time wins, with Judge Pebbles making the final call. It was neck and neck but Jacob pinched the win. Then again, going up against a fully qualified physio was always going to be tricky for an intern.

P.s thanks Christian for getting the dogs out 🫶🏽 MVP

Did you hear the news? The Virginia state budget approved $115.3M to expand the @jmuchbs facilities at JMU as well as an additional $1M annual allotment to support JMU’s Fast Flex program. The Fast Flex program is a new pathway to earning a nursing degree that offers hybrid learning and an expedited time to completion

“This state funding will transform our campus and directly address critical workforce needs across the Commonwealth,” said @jmupresidentjim. “We greatly appreciate the General Assembly’s and Governor’s support as we put forth a solid case to fund these strategic initiatives. The ability to move forward on these projects will allow us to continue our focus on the goals of our strategic plan, The Madison Promise.”

Additionally, JMU will receive $30.5M to renovate Johnston Hall, which was originally built in 1929. Looking to communicate with your baby to prepare them for a lifetime of success? 👶📚

The JMU FIRST program is ENROLLING NOW for new groups meeting Fridays from 9:30-11:30, February 20th - April 17th. We are looking for caregivers and babies in between the ages of 6-12 months. Diapers, books, and childcare will be provided.

Families join us for a series of visits that focus on discovering new ways to engage babies in communication. Families are empowered to use these strategies through large group interactive discussions, small groups with other parents and in individualized one-on-one sessions with graduate student coaches.

What do you get out of participating? Free developmental evaluations, education regarding best practices for interaction with babies, and a chance to practice these skills with graduate clinician coaches!

To enroll, scan the QR code or contact our team at (540) 255-0881 / harbicsc@jmu.edu.
