🍰Yes I made the CAKE in the back room of the gallery ! It took days of paper mache-ing bed sheets onto a chicken wire and bamboo structure in the backyard of the @aquariumgallery while Mardi Gras was in full swing 😅 here are some process pics!
Thanks to @joanshivers for helping transport in her cute truck and @midnightzonemirrorball and @ursaeyer for help with lighting 😘

an announcement! 💥 after 8+ years, I’m going to be moving on from my role as Creative Director and Interim Exec Director of New Orleans Airlift @neworleans.airlift & Music Box Village @musicbox.village. I actually can’t say enough here about the profound impact this work has had on my life, and the deep well of gratitude I feel for the collaborators, friends, and family that I have found along the way. I’ll always be thankful for these teeth-cutting, finger-smashing, heart-pounding, gut-twisting, mind-expanding years. So much magic, so many lessons to take along with me. I firmly believe in the power of live performance— I think it’s transcendent and subversive, and so very important in these times. The unique ability of this place, @musicbox.village, to inspire play for all ages—man, I really hope y’all continue to lift it up after I’m gone. Play is essential, rhythm is in all of us.

This weekend of #jazzfest shows is my last for a while. Please come thru as my Friends & Family, you only need ask at the door.

I’m very pleased to share that I’m joining a world-class performing arts festival, Spoleto Festival USA, in my hometown of Charleston, SC. This festival had a huge impact on me as a young musician and I’m excited to come full circle and see what that brings. If you’re interested, pull up — May 22-June 8 @spoletofestivalusa.
