POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last July, I got a WhatsApp from @gemburnand asking if I’d help produce her latest scripted short, Emetophobe, for @_basement36. Note, I usually work in unscripted factual or entertainment series.

That message turned into months of zooms, emails, location hunting, recces and logistics… and eventually six very full-on days on location, filming.

Emetophobe is a personal story for Gemma, drawn from her experience of living with Emetophobia, the anxiety around being sick. It’s not an easy subject to tackle, but she went for it and we do hope the film helps others.

We filmed everywhere from the London Underground to a public swimming pool, a disused office space… even my flat. At points we were feeding 60 cast and crew. February was fairly relentless, especially alongside the telly day job, but a brilliant project to step into and prove that a Producer in scripted or unscripted do the same thing.

Really proud of what Gemma and our whole team pulled off, literally no stone unturned. We even had an underwater camera thanks to @scarletviewmedia Not bad for a WhatsApp out of the blue.

More to come on Emetophobe soon post the edit!

Film Festival panel + guests shout out 💫 part 1 A big thank you to our panelists for joining us for our film festival hosted at @rdgbiscuitfactory last weekend. Sharing their insights on getting films made were filmmakers @helloimdillon and Isabel @made_by_isabel_productions sharing honest insights + tips. Plus Lesley-Anne producer and @screenberkshire manager with @resourceproductions and film production management software creator David with his super useful platform @filmanize with further practical ideas + support. Within our community stories segment, we welcomed @ghoshshweta from the department of Film Theatre + Television at @uniofreading sharing how the Whitley Futures in Film community project was made and the barriers for some people to consider a role in the Creative industries. At Through A Different Lens, we believe in opening up space for under represented groups to make film so it was so inspiring to hear from a range of filmmakers about how they got started plus ways to support your creativity. Thank you to REDA @filminginrdg and @bfinetworkfhse for supporting our film festival #creatives #independentfilm #shortfilm🎞📽⚡️ #rdg

▪️Black History month conversations ▪️

Music has always been a BIG part of my life!

Songs to sing...to dance...songs to sob to!

Name your favourite artist and I reckon they have been influenced by music of black origin.

And thank you to Darren Wingham for capturing this conversation with my sister Jocelyn
