I Believe In Being Ready 🌎💛

This is a beautiful song by Rising Appalachia, a duo whose music, wisdom, and activism have inspired me for many years. If you don't know their work, I highly recommend exploring it!

I recorded this version during the COVID years with my dear friends Ha and Joe, both wonderful musicians and human beings whose presence brought so much heart to the project.

I made one small lyrical change, replacing "brothers and sisters" with "siblings," reflecting my wish for a more inclusive circle of belonging.

For me, the invitation to be ready is an invitation to be awake: awake to our lives, our choices, our words, and our relationships; ready to care for one another, for the animals, plants, and minerals with whom we share this planet; and ready to live with greater awareness and compassion.

What moves me most about this song is its faith in beginning again. That no matter where we find ourselves, we can turn around and start over. We can repair, restore, and make different choices. We can tend to the harm we've caused to the Earth, to each other, and even to ourselves.

This is a song of hope, responsibility, and renewal.

If you've never experienced auricular acupuncture and the five point protocol of NADA more specifically, please take the time to watch and listen to Joe's experience. NADA impacts people in different ways so not everyone will experience the treatment like Joe but hopefully it's a little insight into the gentle healing and medicine that these little needles facilitate. Joe's description of the points synthesising to form a constellation of stars is a beautiful way to describe it.

If you would like to try NADA, please book using the following link https://fivepointshealing.simplybook.it/v2/#book (also in the bio). We run sessions the first Sunday (10:30-12:00) and last Friday (6:30-8:00) of every month at Earthlings Healing Cafe. The cost is £20 but we do also offer one bursary place per session for those who may not be able to pay for whatever reason. The next session is this Friday 29th May 6:30-8:00 pm.

Once a week Plum Village centres and practitioners around the world observe a lazy day: no schedule, just meals and the allowing of laziness.

As Thich Nhat Hanh, Plum Village founder, said: "we humans have lost the wisdom of genuinely resting"
