POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Saturday afternoon I'll be joining my fellow record-collector pals Nick Miller, Andy Cirzan, Mike LeMaistre and Joe Shanahan at Gman Tavern where we'll take turns spinning tracks from our stash of vinyl albums and 45s. If you need to take a break from raking leaves (and who doesn't?) swing by, grab a drink and say hello. Proceeds from the sales of Krombacher beer will benefit Lakeview Pantry.

It’s been a year since @tonyfitzpatrick9 left us and not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. To say that Tony was an incredible human being would be an understatement. His generosity was downright overwhelming at times. He brought people together like no one I’ve ever met. He was fiercely loyal to those closest to him and went out of his way to support those around him always. Tony would have loved knowing that his family and friends got together tonight to laugh, cry and tell hilarious stories in his honor. There’ll never be another Tony Fitzpatrick.

CHICAGO SHOWS UP FOR EACH OTHER 🖤

There’s something special about the way this city comes together. We do things our own way, make room for each other, and remind ourselves what’s possible when we do.

@hairpopchicago is proof that we don’t need to wait for someone else to create the space we want to see in this industry.

We can build it ourselves. So let’s keep building it.

To every artist, attendee, our venue @gmantavern , our DJ @djaced29 , photographer @ashtonchristopherhair , crew member, friend, and person who supported Edition 02: thank you for being part of it. This only works because of you.

Chicago, don’t forget what we can do when we come together.

We’re just getting started.

Armando Gallop Live @ Chemistry, Amsterdam 6-8-1996’ (Manny’z Tapez)

Everytime I post anything of Armando Gallop, it takes me back 2 our last conversation just a couple weeks b4 he passed. We were talking about having him do a guest mix for us (DJ Cano & Myself) on the “Deep Underground House Show” in Orlando, Florida. Sadly soon after we lost our brother. From what I remember he was about 2 fly out 2 London 4 a gig @ The Ministry Of Sound. Then when he got back he was going 2 work on our mix. Though I’m sure Armando is doing just fine with his past love one’s & other DJ greats like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Tee Scott, Larry Levan, Spanky, the voice of Phuture & the list goes on.
Now here’s a rare mix of Armando live @ Chemistry in Amsterdam. Brother takes it everywhere. I believe if he was still with us, his direction would of went 2ardz that Maurice Joshua or Mike Dunn style... I’m just taking a guess by what he plays on this live set.
Armando, if you hear me, Your spirit will never die as long as I’m on Planet-E & also all those dope DJ’s in Chicago who all have great respect 4 You & what you have done musically & as a cool down 2 earth person.

I’ll see You in Paradise when God calls me home♥️

Last year’s Metro Chicago after‑show for Riot Fest’s 20th Anniversary was one of those nights where Chicago punk history felt alive. After Naked Raygun's interview, I got the chance to talk with Marky Ramone’s band backstage. With so much happening, I wasn’t able to interview Marky himself. The Buzzcocks weren't able to meet in person either due to time, but after they returned home, they graciously had wrote their answers. Their words as written:

1. How did it feel playing Metro right after Riot Fest?
Buzzcocks: "There was a lot of magic in the room when we played the Metro Chicago after Riot Festival. The crowd knew the songs and it was great to do the new songs off "Sonics In The Soul". The band was on fire and the atmosphere was electric.”

2. What did Riot Fest’s 20th Anniversary mean to you?
B: "Riot Fest is such a legendary place to play and we had an amzing show for their 20th Anniversary.”

3. What was it like sharing the stage with Naked Raygun, a band you influenced?
B: "It was great to share the stage with NR! I know we had a big influence on them which is a great compliment.”

4. Why do Buzzcocks songs still connect across generations?
B: "The Buzzcocks songs are timeless and have become a foundation of reference of punk rock. It's just down to great songwriting with undefinable magic. It was also great to play new songs which are becoming the new classics.”

5. Was there a standout moment for you at Metro?
B: "When we get on the stage, it doesn't let up. Those great songs come alive with the magic of the audience.”

6. How has punk helped create mental‑health safe spaces, and how is that evolving?
B: "We have a lot of songs of the human condition. I think people can relate to our words and the journey through the mind of both good and bad.”

7. What’s next for The Buzzcocks?
B: "The next thing for Buzzcocks is a new album, "Attitude Adjustment", which will be released on 30th of January 2026. The follow-up to "Sonics In The Soul", released years ago. It's important to keep new music flowing and we will be doing the "Attitude Adjustment" tour to back the new album.”

We lost my friend, Scott Bradley, early this morning to glioblastoma. His creative genius was unparalleled. These are various shots from over the years, and include scenes from a few of his shows: Alien Queen, Rosemary's Clooney's Baby, and Carpenter's Halloween. The shows made me laugh like few shows can. The last photo is of Scott and Metro's Joe Shanahan, who was a big supporter. If you feel so moved, his sister and brother were his primary caregivers over these past few weeks, and could use some help covering costs. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-scott-bradley-smith-and-family?modal=donations&tab=all #fuckcancer

P.S. I don't know the photog of the second photo. If you do, let me know.
