When @joepolish and @eunicedineromiller texted me to ask if I wanted to speak at this year’s @geniusnetwork annual event, I was so shocked that (after texting yes omg yes), I promptly left my phone on the hood of my car (along with a just opened La Croix).

Then I took Bennie on a play date and only realized I didn’t have my phone 3 HOURS LATER when I was getting back in the car. And there it was on the hood!

So yes this is sort of an ad for @burbanktowncenter where you can apparently leave an iPhone on the hood of a car for hours without anyone taking it.

But it’s also just me saying I cannot believe I get to speak at an event like his, let alone alongside @Xprize founder @peterdiamandis, Paul Mitchel founder @johnpauldejoria, Pulitzer Prize winning author @StevenKotler and so many other brilliant icons.

I spoke at the event many years ago but I was so new to the entrepreneurial world then that I didn’t really get what it meant.

Now I get it and truly can’t believe I get to have a seat at this table.

Still processing everything we took home from Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸

Since we’ve been back, so many of you have stopped by the trailer and asked us the same questions:

“How was it? What did you learn?”

The short answer: a lot.

We spent the day listening to conversations around food, farming, health, prevention, technology, policy and where all of it is headed.

A lot of what we heard reinforced the foundation we’ve been building Schefs Farms around from the beginning knowing where your food comes from, supporting the farmers and ranchers producing it, being intentional about the ingredients we serve our families and our customers, and proving that better food can still be food people genuinely crave 🌱🍔

But one of the most valuable parts of the entire experience was the people.

We had the opportunity to meet business owners, founders, health professionals, entrepreneurs and people working on some incredible things across the country.

We made new friendships, exchanged ideas and built relationships with people we likely never would have crossed paths with otherwise.

Being around people who are building, learning, challenging the status quo and trying to make a difference has a way of making you think bigger about what you’re building too.

We came home with pages of notes, new relationships, a better understanding of what the MAHA movement is working toward, and an even bigger vision for what Schefs Farms can become.

There’s still so much to learn and so much to build.

But we’re incredibly grateful Mom and I had the opportunity to represent Schefs Farms in that room.

Washington, D.C. was one for the books 🇺🇸❤️

Most of us hand our mood over to something outside ourselves every single day.

A text from a client. A headline. A comment on social media. A deal that falls apart.

When I sat down with my friend Kamal Ravikant at the Genius Network Annual Event, he told me about one decision that changed the quality of his life. He stopped letting the world decide how he feels. Social media doesn't get to decide. A business decision doesn't get to decide. He does.

Kamal has backed companies like Vercel and Perplexity early, and he wrote Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It, a book I've given to more people than I can count. He's lost everything and nearly died in a hospital bed, so he's lived every word of this.

What hit me is how simple it is. Feeling bad doesn't make anything better. You can still get angry, still decide to change something, and still keep your state in your own hands.

I've spent a lot of my life in reaction mode. Choosing my response has done more for me than any strategy session.
