ONE DOORWAY, MANY WORLDS
The Fifth Avenue Hotel · New York

A timber door opens onto green walls, a pale arch and a red patterned floor. Each layer frames the next, pulling the eye through a composition that grows richer with every step.

Martin Brudnizki’s interiors for The Fifth Avenue Hotel bring colour, ornament and collected objects into a carefully connected sequence. The rooms have their own personalities, while repeated shapes and warm details carry the story between them.

At Ankhet, we are drawn to the confidence of this layering. A strong palette can make a complex room feel legible and inviting.

Which colour relationship would you save for your next project?

If you’re curious: The Chrysler Building was designed by architect William Van Alen for Walter P. Chrysler and completed in 1930, right at the end of the Roaring Twenties. For a brief moment, it was the tallest building in the world. (Chrysler Building)

The lobby might be one of the best examples of Art Deco interiors anywhere. Van Alen used red Moroccan marble, amber onyx, Nirosta steel and intricately patterned woods throughout, with all the geometric shapes, chevrons and rich materials that defined the era. (NYC Media)

Look up and there’s another incredible detail: Edward Trumbull’s ceiling mural, Transport and Human Endeavor, celebrating transportation, construction and the Machine Age. Basically, the entire building was designed as a monument to modernity, industry and the idea of progress. (Smart History)

A great hotel bar gives guests one more place to explore, whether they’re arriving for the first time or ending the day with one last drink.

Every decision, from the quality of light to the tactile nature of materials, supports that experience. At @arlohotels’ NoMad Diner’s Bar and Lounge, that meant fusing the spirit of a Parisian wine bar with the textures and colors of a 1950s New York diner. At @moxydowntownnyc, it meant creating a bar that anchors a playful social hub with 1970s-inspired fabrics and memorabilia.

Each bar is conceived as an extension of the hotel’s narrative, offering an experience that feels unique while remaining inseparable from the story of the property. A place where design gets to have a sense of humor and where a hotel’s personality comes through in full.

Designing a micro hotel challenges us to think differently about luxury. At @mottochelseanyc, every square foot was considered with intention, from flexible guest rooms and smart storage solutions to a dramatic arrival sequence that gives the building an outsized presence on the street.

A new level of coastal living at Naples Beach Club.

The Sabal Suite sits across the top two floors as our idea of a private, residential retreat in the sky. Light-filled interiors open onto a sweeping rooftop terrace with uninterrupted Gulf views, complete with a pool, hot tub, and spaces made for slow, easy living. From the double-height arrival to the coral-hued bar at the center of it all, every detail is shaped by the rhythm and warmth of Naples.

We worked closely with artists and craftsmen throughout to shape something truly one of a kind, where every material, detail, and gesture feels intentional and personal.
